No - if you dig around, you can find threads about it, and Eric, Perry and Dave have each discussed it in interviews. It was mostly Eric & Perry butting heads creatively.

From the outside looking in, it seems that neither was being understanding to the other's viewpoint, approach or technique and instead were being overly sensitive to how the process had changed, and not allowing that to further change.

There's a big, multi-part interview with Eric on YouTube where he opens up with his thoughts on what went wrong during his brief reunion with the band.
Here's part 1..

Other parts can be found here.. http://www.youtube.com/user/xiolaorg
The song "End to the Lies" is widely believed to be Perry's response to this interview.

Originally, Eric wanted to write new songs if he came back. They tried working on 2 songs with Trent producing, but the vibe to be "Jane's Addiction" wasn't there, so they wound up recording some old songs to try to find that vibe. It didn't help. Those wound up being released on the digi-ep of the NINJA tour which came about because to keep the peace, Eric agreed to go on tour and then work on songs after. Eric also tried to just jam with Dave & Stephen initially so they could work faster and then send recorded ideas to Perry, but Perry threw a fit and refused to let them work that way, therefore hindering the process and showing his insecurity. Throughout the tours of the USA, Europe and finally Australia, Eric couldn't stand being around Perry anymore because he's too fake, lives in a bubble world, lost his creative edge and voice and knew nothing would come of trying to work with him creatively, let alone just talking to him. Dave is guilty of being the rock star and the absurd amount of money being spent by the band is talked about in one of the clips of the Xiola interviews. Eric honored his commitments to concerts he signed up for, the other 3 in Jane's agreed to do the Aspen, CO new year's eve show and Eric said no, so they had Chaney play it, again. Eric then went to Australia and played those final shows and that was the end.

It's sad. Getting older blows. You can't fault Perry, Dave, and Stephen for making a living. It just sucks that the integrity behind the original concept gets compromised. They are obviously not the same people at 45-52 than they were at 19-26. Like everyone else I wonder...what would Deconstruction and Porno For Pyros sound like combined? Obviously awesome and a proper follow up to RDLH. Unfortnatly it did not happen and a lot of their prime years were wasted. Eric always refused the paydays and did not partake in Strays. I think that album is okay. It does nothing for me but it does not piss me off, I kind of just forget it exists. It has a couple of catchy tunes. Finally....God Like Genious Award=Eric Avery comes back. In order to not become a nostalgia act Eric insisted on new material. That didn't work, the nostalgia tour ensued in the key of D and Eric left. When Duff couldn't save the day they brought in a famous producer and an indie rock songwriter, hence the "artier" direction on TGEA, which has great guitar playing, sub par vocals, and Perkins playing straight beats without a hint of creativety. I see them live everytime they come around and they are awesome, but they are 100% what Eric did not want them to be. A nostalgia act.
