Catching Up With Etty Farrell

Jane's Addiction news & discussion

Postby Mike » Fri Feb 08, 2008 12:14 am

Mike: Alright I think we’ve covered most of the questions. I could probably go back through and ask you a couple more but they’d probably be about Jane’s and I don’t know if you’d have the answers for them or want to be bothered with them.

Etty: Let me know if you have any. Just shoot me an email and let me know. I’ll get you the answer to the best of my ability.

Mike: One question nexis asked was “Does Perry ever write some of the guitar/bass riffs himself?”

Etty: Yes.

Mike: I knew he did but that’s…

Etty: He does actually a lot of it. He writes yes he does. He does write a lot of it especially the early Jane’s stuff.

Mike: Another question he had and again you’re not Perry so unless he’s told you you wouldn’t know this but “If Perry had the opportunity to work with any musician/artist in the world on a songwriting collaboration, who would it be?”

Etty: That one you would have to ask him. In fact you know what, he’s on a conference call when he gets off I’ll ask him and then I’ll email it to you.

Mike: OK. That’s awesome.

Insert: This following is not part of the actual interview but Etty did get back to me with the answer to the previous question. Instead of emailing me the answer she decided to post the answer in our forums. That post can be found here: http://www.perryfarrell.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=525 To make things easier I’m including her post as part of our interview. Here it is:

Etty: Here you go Mike!

If Perry had the opportunity to work with any musician/artist in the world on a songwriting collaboration, who would it be?

Jimmy Page and Sly Stone

Yeah I think you're right.
I spent a little time on google tonight after I posted that.
He's who I came up with too.

I've never seen him in concert but I'm familiar with some of his work.
I'd check him out but who knows there could be somebody playing at the same time I'd rather see.
It's still way early as far as Lolla goes.
I'm looking forward to the seeing the complete line-up because (fingers crossed) I'm going this year.

Amazing interview

Postby filthpurveyer » Fri Feb 08, 2008 3:24 am

First off I would like to thank Etty for giving you the time of day when she could have been having her nails done and she was so honest and didn't dodge any questions, that is awesome. She is a Classic Girl. I have learned so much. Why not make this a monthly "Q&A with Mike & Etty"? Great work my brother Mike.

yea..Korn played 97 and snoop too. I went to the NYC show just to see p4p on the second stage. I missed them. But I was walking in and saw Perkins. I told him I came just for them. He then told me they were playing the Brain Forest tent at 6:30!! So me and maybe 30 other people saw 5 accoustic songs on a tiny stage in a tent..It was great. a month later relapse was announced.
