I doubt PF would change anything he's all about synthetic musics. Synthetic = artificial = an imitation of the real thing. Its all a matter of taste man. Some folks like artificial sweetner, some like McDonalds cheeseburgers some eat up tabloid propaganda "news" like CNN and USA today, some like their music artificial.

seriously, the singing in that commercial sounds nothing like Perry... unless they brought over an alternate reality version of Perry where he had a 2pk/day smoking habit since 1985

It's “The Man in Me” by Bob Dylan. Maybe not a perfect match, but I get how the "la la la" parts in GGU are sorta similar.
And hey, Perry kinda covered Dyan before with "Bob-haus".
