Important Site News - Please Read

Post by Mike »

Hello everyone,

I'd like to take a few minutes of your time to inform you of some upcoming changes to this site.

First off let me say I've had a lot of fun running this site the past few years.
I would consider this opportunity a happy accident.
Because of it I had the pleasure of getting to know Perry a little bit.
I got to meet Eric and Perk and best of all I had a chance to pick these guys brains about the history of my favorite band Jane's Addiction.

Furthermore I have meet and became friends with several of you.
It's been a lot of fun reading your opinions and learning from you.
I guess the most fun was going to shows with some of you this past summer.

If all this sounds like a goodbye I suppose that's OK but it's not in reality.
There will however be some big changes around here effective 2/24.
For starters http://www.perry-farrell.net will cease to exist.

I'm sure most of you are familiar with our sister site http://www.janesaddiction.org and the good man who runs it Erik AKA helicine.
Erik and I have been working together for several years to bolster the database of his site.
To that end we will be joining forces in a far more intimate way and the forum here will become the new forum at http://www.janesaddiction.org

To continue to participate you need do nothing if you are already registered here.
Your current user name and password will move with us to the new forum.

The plan at this point is to save as much content from the current forum as possible.
Some content may be lost during the change over but again the plan is to save as much as we can and to add it to the appropriate section of the new forum and database.

I know I'm probably forgetting to mention something and I'll revisit this thread if anything else comes to mind.

In closing I'd like to thank Perry and Etty for their support of this site over the years and their kindness to me.

I'd also like to thank everyone who has contributed to this site over the past few years.
As I said I've really enjoyed learning from you and interacting with you.
I hope the change over goes smoothly and I look forward to continuing our Internet fun.

If anyone has any questions or comments please don't hesitate to ask.

Take Care
Mike

I had no idea earlier this morning that it would take as long as it did to sort though and organize this stuff.
While I'm not completely satisfied with what I got done it's a good start.

I'm still wanting to change the forums around more in an effort to set them up better.

And I don't think "Not JA" is going to cut it.

I hope everyone is finding their way over OK.
If you have any issues please let me know.

Just a quick update on our progress.

I'm 99.9% done with the reorganization or the forum content.
I also think I'm finally happy with what we've come up with as far as the forum sections and their names.

I've spent way more time than I care to admit working on this stuff but I'm pleased with the result.
I hope all the members are happy as well but if you do have a complaint or comment feel free to let me know.

Now that I have the forum set-up and organized my next major job is going to be adding content to the database.
While organizing the forums I found that we're quite behind as far as getting shows added and the like.

I plan to begin remedying the situation soon.

Thanks everyone for visiting and for the positive comments I've received.
The best of which was Perry calling yesterday and telling me he likes it.
