2009.10.31 City Park, New Orleans, LA

Post by Mudget »

This may be one of the shortest-lasting threads ever if the rumor turns out to be untrue. I've been following the Voodoo Fest lineup situation pretty closely for a few days now, plan on going, and at a website where people have likewise been following the lineup announcements:

http://consequenceofsound.net/festival- ... ment-39358

Jane's Addiction is being rumored in the thread.

I believe today is the day that the fest will announce its full lineup, so we'll know soon, but I thought I'd just throw this out there.

I'm going either way (yay Ween!) but if Jane's plays, wow. I can start being super excited all over again.

I hadn't heard of Voodoo Fest - but the lineup looks great and it would be even better if JA was there. Maybe...I can convince my hubby to go there hehe

KISS, JANE'S ADDICTION, DOWN Confirmed For VOODOO EXPERIENCE
- June 25, 2009

According to Billboard.com, KISS and JANE'S ADDICTION are among the headliners at the 11th annual Voodoo Experience music festival, taking place Halloween weekend in New Orleans.

More than 150 acts will play on eight stages in three separate areas — named Le Ritual, Le Flambeau and Le Carnival — around the city.

Other major acts on the Voodoo Experience bill include WOLFMOTHER, EAGLES OF DEATH METAL, MEAT PUPPETS and DOWN.

Fuse will provide on-air and online coverage of the Voodoo Experience and will broadcast a one-hour special on Nov. 7.

Weekend tickets are available for $169, while LOA Lounge VIP passes are priced $475. Voodoo organizers are absorbing any surcharges this year.

I don't believe the days of headlining has been officially released or announced yet, but it seems from good sources that Jane's is Sunday's headliner (unfortunately opposite Widespread Panic, another big draw) - but this isn't confirmed yet.

Tickets are an all-or-nothing thing. $169 bucks now for the three days. They started at $123 and even before the lineup was announced, they went to $140something. And this is the last stop at $169. (EDIT: Not true, there will be at least one more price-hike). My friend says the whole event doesn't (or hasn't ever) sold out totally.

There are still other rumored acts, like Beastie Boys, Kings of Leon, and/or Metallica.

But basically the lineup as it stands now is:

Yeah, my friends went to this the last few years and said it's a really great festival, and asked me once again this year. In the past, I haven't gone, too expensive for the whole trip.

But ever since my Jane's show, I've been hungry for more good, live music, and a trip to New Orleans on Halloween with my friends sounded fun. It was either Voodoo Experience with my friends, or Lollapalooza by myself.

So, I signed up for the Voodoo thing without knowing -anyone- on the lineup. Then they slowly started adding bands, and I was very, very pleased. Ween is in my top 5 bands ever. I love Wolfmother. Gogol Bordello is an absolute goodtime spectacle live. Flaming Lips. Pogues. It kept getting better and better.

But then Jane's Addiction was rumored. Imagine my happiness when that little wish came true. Let me also say how pleased I am that Jane's Addiction is recognized as the powerful headliners that they are. I love seeing their name up there with powerhouse acts like Eminem and KISS.

Jane's Addiction, you're not done with me this year yet!!

If anyone else goes to this from here, let me know, I'd love to meet good people.

We're renting a house (I think there will be six of us), and flying there. It's not going to be cheap, but fuck it's going to be a good time!!!!

I should add I misspoke in a post, above. I don't think $169 is the final price range. There will be one more price level after this one. Probably either $189 or $200. Just FYI.

I should also add that it looks like SSSC has dropped out of this festival.
