JANES ADDICTION TO PLAY INTIMATE LONDON SHOW

The legendary Janes Addiction have announced a very special show on Thursday 16th July in the heart of London.

Currently on the sold-out NiN/JA 2009 tour with co-headliners Nine Inch Nails, Janes will follow their O2 show with an intimate gig at Centro in Holborn.

The Los Angeles quartet, who’s career has spanned over 20 years, produced 3 critically acclaimed studio albums, and staked their name as one of the most exciting live bands in the world return to the UK for the first time in 17 years with their original line-up. Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins will play a trademark debauched Janes show for this one off gig, its certainly not to be missed!.

Main support will come from Teeside band; The Chapman Family, whispered as the new Joy Division, the quartet gave the whole world a chance to hear the new sound of the underground with debut single ‘Kids’ back in May. Kingsley, Pop, Phil and Paul have been wowing crowds throughout the UK with their intense live show, and have been hotly tipped across the board. With their debut album in the pipeline, The Chapmans are a must-see.

Londons Loverman will be first on. For those of you who don’t know of the the quartet, they are the dark heart that's been beating in the shadows of London's underbelly for the last year. Having recently returned from Los Angeles where they recorded their debut mini album with producers Atticus Ross (NiN) and Joe Baresi (QOTSA), their heart looks set to attack…

Jane's Addiction joined by fire-breathing strippers for surprise gig

Band play intimate show in London
Jul 17, 2009

Jane's Addiction played a rare intimate gig in London last night (July 16).

The band – fresh from playing the O2 Arena over two nights with Nine Inch Nails – got up close and personal with a crowd of 300 at Centro in Holborn.

Surrounded by fire-breathing strippers and projections of pornographic images, the band played a tight set despite guitarist Dave Navarro feeling unwell.

Many of the crowd – which included The La's' Lee Mavers and Babyshambles' Drew McConnell – had queued since noon to bag one of the few tickets that were being sold on the door, with one even jetting in from Italy for the show.

Playing a set that included 'Being Caught Stealing' and 'Ted, Just Admit It', frontman Perry Farrell joked with the audience that they were enjoying their "residency" in the capital, before wrapping the show up with the classic 'Ocean Size'

"Jane's Addiction are London's new house band," he declared. "Playing all venues every Friday night this month!"

Jane's Addiction played:

'Up The Beach'
'Whores'
'One Percent'
'Ain't No Right'
'Ted, Just Admit It'
'Mountain Song'
'Been Caught Stealing'
'Had A Dad'
'Summertime Rolls'
'Ocean Size'

Janes Addiction Play Intimate London Show
Epic set from funk-rock gurus

live Posted by Robin Murray Fri, 17/07/2009

American sleaze-rockers Jane's Addiction have played a sensation set in London to just three hundred people.

Jane's Addiction are a phenomenon. Amid a sea of increasingly polite young rock bands, hell bent on a career in the music industry, Jane's Addiction stand out through their sheer 'we don't care' attitude.

Take a recent performance at T In The Park. Where most bands shuffle onstage and scream 'hello Scotland!' before muttering something about 'best crowd on the planet' Jane's Addiction kept everyone waiting for forty minutes.

Then when they arrived, singer Perry Farrell wails through classics such as 'Been Caught Stealing'. Guitarist Dave Navarro jettisons some astonishing solos before a fan in the front row begins taunting Perry Farrell.

Sticking two fingers up at the frontman, the fan provoked a severe response. "Why don't you stick one (finger) up your girlfriend’s cunt and stick one up your own ass? Basic mathematics. Anyway, let's fucking rock this bitch."

Jane's Addiction followed their T In The Park performance by rocking London's enormous O2 Arena. The band are currently on a world tour with Nine Inch Nails, who are set to place themselves on hiatus later this year.

However the Los Angeles rock gods were having too much fun in London, and decided to stay for one more date. Taking over the Centro venue in Holborn, the band emerged onstage surrounded by fire-breathing strippers.

The crowd bizarrely included Lee Mavers of The La's, as well as Babyshambles drummer Drew McConnell. Many fans had queued since noon to bag a ticket, with only three hundred in attendance.

Opening with 'Up The Beach' singer Perry Farrell joked with the crowd that Jane's Addiction were performing a "residency" in London. "Jane's Addiction are London's new house band," he declared. "Playing all venues every Friday night this month!"
