Jane's Addiction, the pioneering '90s alt-rock act, is a last-minute scratch for tonight's Not So Silent Night concert at Oakland's Oracle Arena. Performing in its place will be local pop-punk heroes Green Day.
That's a pretty good consolation prize for those attending radio station Live 105's annual holiday concert -- Green Day has sold more than 65 million albums worldwide and has long been considered one of the industry's top live acts. Plus, the East Bay group has reportedly been in studio recently, working on a follow-up to its platinum- selling 2009 record, "21st Century Breakdown."
Jane's Addiction, originally set to headline Not So Silent Night, was forced to cancel its set due to a band member's undisclosed family emergency, according to concert promoter Live Nation. No further details were given
The rest of the lineup remains intact and includes such big-name attractions as Florence + the Machine, Mumford & Sons and Bush.
Tickets, priced at $39.50-$150, are still available for this event at the venue box office.
