10/02/1988 - Logo, Hamburg, Germany

I first stumbled across this show almost two years ago.
I was listening to a interview Perry and Dave did in November of 1988.
Prior to hearing Perry and Dave talking about it I'd never heard of this show.

In the interview only the fact that they did a show in Hamburg, Germany is mentioned.
Well that and they talk about the audience and the things going on in Hamburg.

There was however no mention of the venue's name or the exact date of the show.
Tonight I got lucky and found this poster for the show!

So great you found out about the show, cause frankly, I never did!

This is what the poster says:

Jane's Addiction

Only show in Germany

2nd of October 1988

(next to the date) Hamburg, Logo

kc, I'm like a bull dog or something when it comes to these shows.
Well maybe some sort of hunting dog.
I get a scent of them and just keep on chasing them down.

Thank you so much for translating the poster.
Now we know 10/02 was the only date they did in Germany that time around.

It's still hard to believe that this show took place a full two years prior to the previously thought first appearances of Jane's in Germany.

Here's an excerpt of the interview Perry and Dave did with Roy Trakin.
Roy Trakin: This is the kind of thing (Nothing's Shocking) that might go over well in Europe. Now you've toured Europe, yes? Were you there on a promotional tour or...?

Dave: Some what we did London, we did Hamburg. And um Hamburg was... there were riots everywhere and people screaming and ripping at our cloths. It was amazing.

Roy Trakin: How did you go over (laughing) how did you go over there? Ooh other than that fine… (laughing)

Dave: No there was… there was about twelve people there and they all filtered out one by one and it turned out there were about three girls there watching us.

Perry: Well there was three… yeah there was three people in the front that wouldn’t let us leave. They really wouldn’t let us leave. They loved us and they were completely drunk and we just kept playing for them.

Dave: And our show was over and we just kept playing and we just like rehearsed.

Perry: And you know it was funny too because you know I’m going “well you know there’s only three people left but they are girls. Maybe we’ll get laid” right. After the show was over we played for them only. They were the only three people in the club but after the show was over they didn’t want to have anything to do with us. (laughing) They left.

I tried to confirm with Dave on last week's Dark Matter show if this was indeed the "only show in Germany".
Unfortunately he didn't remember but he did have some fun stories about shutting off the power.

I'd really like to know where they went after this show?
Supposedly they didn't return to America until October 10th.
That leaves a week where they could have possibly played more European shows!

Did they and if so where?

BTW I was able to purchase this poster and we added a nice upgrade to the site this past weekend.
