Eric leaving.....
I've been hearing that Eric is finished with Jane's. I have mixed feeling about this. First, it appears thats Perry's twitter comments recently were directed at Eric regarding his feeling betrayed. It seems Eric is not going to play with them on their S.American tour "opening for GnR." (Sounds funny does'nt it?) I know there are hardcore fans who are blaming Perry's greed(selling out) for this, thus forcing Eric's hand, however being a old deadhead I know the importance of a band touring and gaining strength by playing live. In todays music world that art of road work is almost gone. Dave Matthews does it well(can't stand him though...) Axl Rose sucks. without Slash they suck, but the beauty of this is J.A will blow those fucking sorry losers away every night on this S.American leg. The music industry is fucked and why not make a little money playing to bigger crowds south of the border. I do respect Eric wishes, integrity and look forward to his next record. I pray that we will here the two new songs they recorded with Trent one day(without Chaney over Eric's parts)in saying this I also respect people who are upset with this, but hey lets face it they really don't like each other(Perry and Eric)so fuck it. With this said I can't imagine Jane's opening for them in the U.S. I feel spreading the music live is more important. Rock that shit Chris!!!!!!!!!!I understand Perry's view now it's time to get on with it.....

As far as I can tell, nobody has said anything about anything.
My hope is that nobody makes some kind of permanent comment like "That's it for me." or "He's gone". If Eric needs time away from the band, great, go take as much time as necessary. Last time it took 20 years, but hey, he made it back and it was amazing, as expected.
I don't know the intricacies of what being in a superband is like, but it would be nice if Perry & Co. could just call Eric before tours/shows/etc., ask if he's interested, and hit the road with him if he's into it.
If not, no biggie, ask Chris, Flea, Martyn, whoever.
Just doesn't seem like there needs to be such finality every time with this band, because it never turns out to be final. It's like the boy crying "Wolf!" I've read articles that say things like "Jane's Breakup #523", or "Jane's Reunion #10,234".
It would be nice if it could just be an organic thing that works when it wants to, and doesn't when it doesn't. No need for yet another breakup and eventual reunion. Just let it flow more naturally and play it by ear at every stage along the way.
Advice/wishes from a moron who knows nothing about the internal workings of this otherwise perfect machine.

I just want to say that all this talk of Eric leaving the band is really sad.
I've been quiet on this subject because I don't know any more than the rest of you.
I guess it all stems from Eric not playing the show on the 31st?
Personally I don't have a problem with Eric not doing that show and I think I know why he's not doing it.
Anyway until I'm told otherwise Eric is still in the band.
He's just not playing with them New Year's eve and that's that.

I think its great they all took the stage together, and if this is it then its ok and im grateful for what we got,for me it was a chance to love, live and remember my teenage years.
one thing I know for sure is Perry will never stop singing

but now he is cleansing his soul and sheading his past layers that weigh him down,he will be born again, this is not the end!
