Post by shadow »

Hallo there! I wish to implement my jane's addiction (and related bands, porno for pyros, psicom) records (lp, 7", 12", single, rare cd) collection. I'm asking to you if there are some records you like to suggest or you considering very special to collectible, of course, a classic discography of the band and most famous uncommon material such their official albums, the censured version of ritual, the mephisto demo, psicom 7" are records that i know.

I was take a look at discography and bootography sessions but i'm not very able to focus this research

Currently this is my list

Jane's addiction
- 1987 (lp, cd)
- nothing's (lp,cd)
- ritual (lp, cd)
- Live in rome 1991
- the mephisto demo
- one hits is all it takes
- early simptoms
- classic girl single cd
- porno for pyros (official album cds)
- porno for pyros (pets cd single)
- psicom (cd, lp)

Thanks, regards

If you are looking to have a very complete collection of JA material, put "A Cabinet of Curiosities" on there and remove "Mephisto Demos", "Early Symptoms" and "One Hit Is All It Takes". The only Jane's tracks on those 3 boots are from the Radio Toyko demos, which are very common.

a cabinet is a complete collection of rare material, i had already decided to get it! I didn't think more about it and you reminded me! thanks! :) but i think is most common than the Mephisto demo, one hits it all it takes and early simptoms. I know the story about these boots but in my opinion these are most uncommon Jane's stuff in their gender. As a vynil collector i was talking especially about the special items like these. I bought they in 1994 and i'm really attached to they, especially mephisto demo and his wonderful cover, one of my favourite of my vynils collection! I could never replace these records with others.
Thanks!

I bought the Mephisto Demos back in 1990 or 1991. I was so pissed at how little of it was actually Jane's that I smashed one of the records after the first listen. I could have just taken it back, but I was just so pissed not just that it was a rip off, but that there were not more rare Jane's demos. That's what really got to me. On the plus side, the cover is really nice.

It's not just one other band, it's like 3 or 4 other bands:

The first and last impression me and friends of mine we had playing this record was absolutely positive. I was immersed in Dead Kennedys, GBH, Plasmatics, Metallica, Primus and someone else but i loved Jane's Addiction more than other band on this planet! I always believed the record was of my favourite band of that time and i often said: "listen to Perry, he change his voice so naturally" or "what a fantastic band Jane's Addiction was" or "incredible they can play everything". They let me knew the taste for diversity and what is unpredictable and alternative, so everythings this album suggested was believable for me: they opened my mind like, Primus Bowie and Pil done in the same time. We came out from the Jane's addiction era, passing through Porno for Pyros and finally to Psicom when i discovered this record! It was very simple and automatic tied up the Jane's music world with other great dark songs on this double album. I was mislead by this record for years until when i found the thruth on this web site. Somehow i think it has his precious value and i'm very happy to keep it so strong in my collection.

about this?

most of the vinyl records can be bought from time to time on ebay for very reasonable prices.

the only one i've ever seen only one copy of, is the purple swirl trip away double vinyl.

also, the purple and blue triple x vinyl copies are pretty rare.

few others are that hard to get. i've most of them a handful of times on ebay and if you watch long enough you'll have a good collection of vinyl.
