Re: Unreleased PFP songs
As much as I would like to disagree I think ur right bman. Pete & Perry & Stephen couldnt create an authentic Porno For Pyros album if their lives depended on it. At this point if they attempted it I don't think it would come out anywhere near the way you and I would like . It wouldnt have the same attitude, special feeling and be able to gel like they did back then. When P & P moved on to the trendy styles and a lower energy vocal approach thats when they lost me. Now the only X-ception would be if there was enough full songs left over from the Good Gods era captured on demo tapes. Personally I don't believe there is anything left over unfortunately this stellar band came to an end before their time.bman wrote:That ship has sailed folks...Perry is in the same head space or universe that he was back in the day...91 and 96 are a long time ago. Re: Unreleased PFP songs
hhmmmm maybe so but maybe not .. i think the main detriment to perry revisiting pyros is the way he produces his voice on record. there is a rediculous amount of compression and or the mic is just too high end picking up every little nuance that comes out of his mouth .. its really annoying and its all over strays and sounds like its on the sat party disc too (tho i never bought it cuz the chicago lolla boot was so good i didn't want to ruin my appreciation of the songs) .. point being when perry revisit janes with strays, janes was a hugely overproduced monster, phat and oozing with compression and that def leppard production style .. of course there was a lot of pressure .. some likely self imposed .. to achieve that huge over processed comercial radio friendly sound .. but with pyros and good gods .. both were decidedly produced very raw and with good gods, very organic warm and acoustic .. there IS a chance that perry would take a similar approach to revisit pyros and go for that natural organic production again on purpose to fit the mood of the other 2 records. if that were the case i think theres a good chance that perry wouldn't butcher pyros good standing .. especially with petes good influence on the project

Re: Unreleased PFP songs
the 3rd P4P's record, all stuck in Petes head
Warriors
Snapped
Fingernail
Auga
Little Me
Thanksgiving
Wasted
Firefly
Individuality
the question is:should they record these songs from a decade ago if they ever gave it a thought? These songs are about past relationships, drugs ect
or do they attempt to write new songs and sounds?
If they were ever to record those songs I think they should call the record SUB...."Some Unfinished Business"

Re: Unreleased PFP songs
wow hydro did pete really give u that list?
it sounds pretty good already except the thanksgiving song. 'petes dad' was 'ok' but thats more than enough holiday pyros for me thank u ..
if these songs are fully written already i say grab watt, rehearse for a day, then hit the studio real fast, put down live band tracks then over dub acoustic guit, hand drums, vocal harmonies and have that sample playin silent fifth pyro member throw on some of his cool sounds .. bust the whole thing out in a bout a week,
record it in perkins home studio where he does his banyan jams
sorry hydro but "sub" is as bad as "the great escape" .. lets start by banning english in the title

Re: Unreleased PFP songs
Since Porno For Pyros still sounds pretty up to date and fresh to my ears esp the 2nd P4P album...if I were them I wouldnt change much, if anything at all. They might not like the songs as much now.... but I think he could sympathize with the fans who want to hear it and read the lyrics Perry wrote back then. Keep the songs and lyrics intact as they were written, record them in a pro studio, and preserve the essence of their art in that unique time and place in history for the band. Just my 2 cents.hydro wrote:the 3rd P4P's record, all stuck in Petes head![]()

Re: Unreleased PFP songs
yes and he totally caught me off guard one day on the phone when out of the blue he starts playing an acoustic and singing lyrics ive never heard before...he played about 30 secs of each song for me naming the titles as he went.In between balling my eyes out over the shock of hearing these unrecorded and unreleased songs I managed to find a pen and write the song titles down(with Petes permission)TrevorAyer wrote:wow hydro did pete really give u that list?
I agree with you guys.If they join forces again,Id love to hear these songs come to life.
Pete says they will go to the grave with him unless........

30 seconds is not much to judge, but can you give us a little detail as to what it sounded like, slow or fast? 1st album, GGU era? etc....hydro wrote:yes and he totally caught me off guard one day on the phone when out of the blue he starts playing an acoustic and singing lyrics ive never heard before...he played about 30 secs of each song for me naming the titles as he went.In between balling my eyes out over the shock of hearing these unrecorded and unreleased songs I managed to find a pen and write the song titles down(with Petes permission)TrevorAyer wrote:wow hydro did pete really give u that list?

The songs will go to the grave with him. First of all those titles sound like a Peter DiStefano solo record. Little Me and Fingernails might be Perry related because the word fingernails was used in Summertime Rolls. Second Perry doesnt give a rats ass about Porno For Pyros and what they used to portray. Third, even if Perry wanted to record Porno For Pyros he couldnt. He isn't capable no way no how. Like bman said that ship has sailed. The Porno Pyros ship has sailed and sunk to the bottom of the ocean off the Tahitian coast.
