"I don't get it: where's the danger, the thrills, the tripped-out psychedelia?? The intimate folk touches, the fierce metal runs, the hypnotic tribal drumming? The sense that the band would take you to the very edge and then jump over the cliff with you? This new album sounds overly slick, commercial, trendy, mid-tempo, so-so, *bland*. The songs just aren't there and the sound is uninspired. Navarro isn't even trying. They just sound like any other slick LA band now, it's not Janes at all."

farrell is very different and radio friendly since the porno for pyros first album! there's nothing new under the bridge. some reviews i was reading some day ago has no meaning! some related comments are logical consequence but sounds really strange. people change during the life and Farrell to. it's obvious hear and see him very different. he has a family, his role in the society is completely different and of course his poetic/art and music going on parallel side of his life! and that's all. I must admit something....I have not heard a Jane's Addiction early albums from 94! and i didn't expect an album like the sequel of the tryptich live/nothings/ritual. Jane's Addiction broke up in 1991 and they never really resource. Stray wasn't less trendy and commercial than the great escape artist but it didn't receive the same negative criticism.

I finally listened to the whole record on Youtube last night after watching the laughable Letterman performance of "Underground". I made it through most songs entirely, while others were skipped ahead through pretty quick. I can safely say that I will never listen to any of these new songs ever again.

Perry is clearly the weak link. Vocally, lyrically, and artistically, as to be expected.

It's quite obvious that most of these songs were built in pro tools and not a real band jamming songs out, except for maybe then ones that Duff was a part of, but what they've turned into since he left, isn't what he wanted them to sound like I bet. I have nothing against that way of working, but, when Eric was making an effort to write, it's clear now why Perry wouldn't be a part of that, or allow Eric, Dave, and Stephen to write without him. Perry can't write anymore for "Jane's Addiction". This is the end of the road for them, finally.

The music, I like, everything that Perry contributed, I don't.

I can fully accept change and progression of styles and playing from 20 years ago, but this charade of Perry's is a waste of people's time.

I understand what you mean, but has no sense to me. Sincerely sometimes the album is not convincing even to me. I would have preferred more songs like End to the Lies, underground or irresitible force and less ballads and slow songs. From this point of view the record isn't completely homogeneous even though it has its own logic. however, is too exaggerated talking about charade and waste of time. nobody forces you to buy and listen to the album. Perry Farrell even less. People losing your time in a different way, stay in front of computer, for example. and listening music is one of many ways to do it more enjoyable. No one in the band is a man of the government, just an artist/musician and what they can do could be interesting and enjoyable, or not. and this is the end of the stories. The band finished money and having needs some more they decided to make a new record? where' s the problem? you can stay without job?
