Perry Says
in my mind, I have gone far away from thinking about the people that were in my past because on line, there was a complete lack of respect for the life I have built with my wife and children. The comments that I have read; I would have never dreamed that the people that I related to yesteryear; those living alternative lifestyles like myself- would turn out to be so prejudice and cruel. I avoid them today, like I avoided institutions in the past. My life is a thrill. I cherish my wife and love her more than I ever knew I could love a woman. I know there are a lot of people who encourage us. I know that there are many people who have remained open minded, but the truth is they have been swept into a personal battle with people who were close to us in the past, who now go on line and use words to try and hurt us. I just choose to avoid the chaos. Life is too short to sift through garbage when you have a lovely stock in your fridge. I do thank Mike for reminding me of the great days because they really were so special. I imagine people that grew up in the 60's/ in Berkley and the stories they have to tell- well for those who grew up around our scene- they could sure tell stories to compare. We should all be so happy we experienced that creative outburst.

Thanks Perry.
I'm so sad for the circumstance of your post but the things you say ring true.
I have been very upset and sickened by all of this myself.
I want this site to be a nice place and do my best to make it so.
I as always wish only the best for you in life and everything you do.
I'm happy you're still around and making relative, inspiring music.
As someone else posted in another thread I've grown up with your voice.
I always try to treat others with respect and it's a standard which I try to have those that choose to post here adhere to as well.
I'm so very sorry Etty, the love of your life was treated with anything but respect here.
She certainly deserves better than she gets in my opinion.
The name calling and such is completely uncalled for.
I hope everyone that's a member here will read this and take something away that they can use in their everyday life.

Perry,
Thank you for all that you have given us over the years through your awesome music and extraordinary performances. Its always great to read your interviews and be able to catch some insight into your creative passion for music and life. I was very happy to read your responses to Mike's interview late last year. I look forward to hearing your new songs and seeing you all play live again. Please come back to Orlando soon.
Best Regards,
Nexis

Right Perry, don't pay any attention to the internet flames.
A bunch of cowards stressed by their boss while at work writing in sites.
Slaves of Corporations, slaves of their own hate, full of bad energies and thoughts they dont know how to channel otherwise. They are no judges of art nor of the beauty.
Let's remain attached to the positive energy of life: poetry, art, friends, festivity, party, nature and sport and music and kindness.
Long life to the Bernstein and god bless you

lets do what we can to solve the beef.
but you gotta be willing to take some constructive criticism, without thinking people are against you or etty. you can't control everything and especially the internet.
people are gonna say shit. some people express it eloquently and others just say "fuckin' shit", but either way it shows their displeasure with the way things are going.
and as much as jane's addiction is perry's band, guess who's gonna buy that box set or fill those seats at future shows? we are.
we're not dogging you or dave or etty or perkins, just to be talkin' shit. we're seriously unhappy with things. and we are happy with other things. sometimes we misunderstand the situation as i have a few times. it's a very human thing to do.
do what you want to do, cut off the opposition if you want, but you will only end up with a room full of yes men in the end.
dissent, whether it's well spoken or emotional drivel, should be welcome to any confident artist.

I look at it this way. To me, this is FANSITE for people who enjoy and appreciate the music of Satellite Party and Perry Farrell, not one big constant critique. Some constructive criticism is fine from time to time, we all have our likes and dislikes in music. Its fine if done in a respectful manner. Though I would suggest people wanting to read critique's and reviews of an artists work and their personal life go to rolling stone or spin.sonny wrote:lets do what we can to solve the beef.

I can't speak for Satellite Party but I create music myself and realize there is room for improvement in areas but I never make music just to please other people. I make music to please myself first and if other people like it then thats great even it means my audience would be limited by that choice. An artist should be true to him/herself and their creative inspiration. I would never enjoy reading harsh criticism from the likes of people I don't even know picking apart my artistry, telling me what my music should sound like or become to fit their expectations. That would aid in destroying my creative inspiration, not building it up. And if I was to give interviews I wouldn't want to hear rude disrespectful comments directed at me personally. Of course that kind of stuff is out there and easy to find. But I choose to avoid it and go to sites like this that are appreciative and positive most of the time.
