Perry's Art..!!

Post by zdilla »

Hi..i posted a thread about Perry's art at Xiola..and i think that it will be really cool here !!

..i used to have the XXX painting as a poster in my room as a young teenager..and my aunt ripped it down...she thought it would corrupt my younger cousin Scotto!.. :(

anyway...i really love art and just recently picked up oil painting again...

...my reason for this thread..is to discuss Perry ..the artist..!!..

i would reallly like to see some other paintings..if there are any other than the XXX...it's seems so inspired and skillful that i don't doubt that there are other painting..or drawings...

NS..do you know of any other Perry art that we can accumulate in this thread..??

:)

What?
That corrupt someone.
Wait maybe... maybe that explains a lot.
Maybe that's why I am the way I am today.

Seriously though zdilla, other than the art for all the album covers and of course the music therein I've seen precious few images / works Perry has created.

I'll have to look but I might have an image someplace on my PC that Perry did as a gift for someone that was later sold on ebay.

Other than that I've got nada.
Maybe someone else here has something that they'd like to share.
That or maybe Perry will if he feels like it share something with us.

I do know that this is Perry's creation / work.

I'll look for the other image I was talking about and I'll post it if / when I find it.

When I was 18 I had three of those really HUGE posters (what do they call those? Concert posters or...I don't know) featuring Jane's. I had, XXX, NS, and (the then-new) RDLH all in order on one wall. Ritual was the greatest art-wise in my opinion, and I could make the argument for it being the greatest rock album cover of all time. The color, the detail, the Latin folk-art style. It's just rich and beautiful, not to mention that it perfectly symbolized the sounds found within the sleeve.

I loved those giant posters...I wonder if they're in a box or something. That's the best way to really experience an album cover, because it's bigger than you :!:

Hey zdilla, here's another piece Perry did for the first Lolla.
Image
It continued to be used for several years.
The last time I remember seeing it used was 2003.

Here's a flyer Perry did for a Psi-Com show back in 1984.
