Show was awesome!
Lot's of energy on stage and in the crowd...
The one quote that sums up the show was from a very excited hispanic girl that screamed at the top of her lungs,
"I'm 37 years old and you are rocking my world..."
God bless America!
By the way, I just happened to read what sonny wrote on his front page.
Huh?
This show pretty much seemed like it was for the fans.
I think they tried to make it up to everybody who didn't get in at La Cita.
Unfortunately, people are idiots, they are unwilling to take a chance.
It is certainly not worth wasting 5 hours of your life to try to get into to a 200 capacity venue unless you know 100% you can get in.
Gee, I guess if something isn't handed to you on a silver platter, you don't feel "special" so why even try...
Thanks to the band, they actually put something on for the fans. They really tried to do something nice and people are so stupid all they can do is complain. It really was pretty much a show for the fans, there were very few "celebs" there. It was a great thing for anyone that actually put just a little bit of effort to see this (I think about 4:30 or 5:00 arrival time was the cut off...)
Oh well, I got in.
Once again thanks to the band for really doing something special for the fans.
Don't think that all of us are ingrates, some of us fans really do appreciate when people do nice things.

It was Awesome...Please Play Whores and Trip Away every night now! I showed up at 8:30 and was supposed to be on the list...Somehow, I wasn't! I explained to the guy that I flew from NYC and was told that I was on the guest list..He went downstairs to confirm and came back 10 minutes later and said it was cool! Very Scary moments! I had a profound sadness for a minute! The show was awesome.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_b ... -boys.htmlThank you, boys: Jane's Addiction brings it back to the old school at El Cid
12:47 PM PT, Nov 21 2008
We've already written enough this week about Jane's Addiction, so this time we'll keep it short. More than 70 fans eventually made their way in last (plus 80 or so crew, guest list ticket holders and staff) night at El Cid in Silver Lake, with minimal drama at the door -- no fights over spots in line and lots of smiling faces. "This is what it used to feel like [to play live in Los Angeles] and guess what? It feels ... great," vocalist Perry Farrell said Thursday night after a tight and funky version (good to have you back, Eric) of "1%."
Suffice it to say, despite a few technical problems with Dave Navarro's guitar set-up, the show was worth the seven-hour (for some of us, anyway) wait. Curiously, Farrell mentioned Goldenvoice onstage (Farrell and Goldenvoice have a long history) at one point during the evening, which some might take as a signal that the band may be gearing up for a possible return to the Goldenvoice-produced Coachella festival, which they last played in 2001. We have no idea if a slot on the 2009 bill is in the works, but it is interesting to note that the band's forthcoming box set, "A Cabinet of Curiosities," bows in April. Fortuitous timing, no? Farrell is at Coachella every year anyway, either as a DJ or just backstage repping L.A. as only he knows how in the desert; this coming year, perhaps he might get paid just a bit more for the two-hour and change drive east.
Regardless of what happens next spring, fans who got in to the gig last night were happy they were able to see the band. As a grinning Farrell nicely put it before leaving El Cid's tiny stage, "Let's see Clear Channel top this one." Set list and some musings from Navarro after the jump (video forthcoming when we can find something usable; fans can feel free to point us to anything decent in the comments below).
Set list Thursday (songs in approximate order)
"Whores"
"Trip Away"
"Standing in the Shower ... Thinking"
"Then She Did"
"No One's Leaving"
"Mountain Song"
"Ain't No Right"
"1%"
"Stop"
"Had a Dad"
"Ocean Size"
"Chip Away"
Dave Navarro posted some additional thoughts on the set last night on his blog at 6767.com. Here is a sampling:
"I know that some people didn't make it in, but overall the night was much smoother than the La Cita show in terms of getting the fans in. Wristbands were handed out to the people waiting in line during the day to assure entry. I have to hand it to our management team and crew for seeing to our concerns about this."
"The whole night really felt like the old days... the music, the line up, the fans, christmas lights, candles, a hot little club, things breaking down on stage, the entire audience singing along with every word of the set... What a spectacular way to spend a Thursday night! Thank you to everyone who came down to support us."

Contain your sarcasm
Damn it, I would have tried except for talking to El Cid and them telling me repeatedly that "NOBODY WAS GETTING IN UNLESS ON GUEST LIST". I would have waited, just seemed pointless when was told point blank NOBODY. It would have been completely worth it to wait, if even told that a few would be let in.LizardWiz wrote:

You bought into the hype.
We all heard what Dave had to say about that matter on his radio show.
Everyone getting up in the band's face about not caring for their fans, and all the while Dave was telling us all to GET DOWN THERE! I have to say that I think these guys went out of their way to try and get some fan love in there. I mean, let's face it, it was like a 200 person show, and about half of the venue were fans from the line!

I have no idea who she was, but she was awesome...Some random chick from the show wrote:"I'm 37 years old and you are rocking my world..."

Those pics were from my cell phone...I'll be posting the rest of what I got much later tonight...I wasn't going to take any photos- just vid. But, I'm a photographer at heart so I ended up getting both. I think instead of embedding a photobucket file, I will upload them and post links for you to download. It will be better quality.
Last night was a love fest between the audience and the band. Everyone that made it in was so happy and excited to be there and the air was absolutely electric...burlesque show was perfect way to start the night! The band sounded great and I was thrilled with the set list! SO STOKED to hear No One's Leaving and my other faves, Whores, Trip Away and 1%! Holy shit! It was awesome!
