I agree with some of what you're saying TrevorAyer but a lot of it not so much.
I guess I'll use the comparison that's been made for a longtime and bring Led Zeppelin into the mix.
Led Zeppelin's principal song writers were Page and Plant.
Jane's were Perry and Eric, and Porno For Pyros was Perry and Pete.
At least that's what I think.
I don't mean to lessen Bonham, Jones, Dave, Perk, or Martyn's importance or contributions to their bands.
I just think that in the past Perry has been his creative best when working with Eric or Pete as his partner.
Same as Page and Plant were at their best when they worked together.
I'm hopeful the guys are currently bringing out the best in one another and that we'll all be happy with the results.
The good news is hopefully we won't have to wait a whole lot longer to hear it.
I don't want to argue your opinion with you because it's a waste of both of our time.
That said I will say that I really enjoyed Dave's playing recently and I don't get the "metal" comment.
Maybe I just wasn't listening for it and I can go back and listen to some shows from the last couple years but I just don't hear it.
Feel free to point me in the right direction so that I can have a better idea of what you're talking about.
As for the production, it's already been confirmed that Bob Ezrin is not producing this time around.
Who is is an unknown at the moment but I think we can agree to withhold judgment until we've heard what they come up with.
