perky is one of the better drummers to come along .. i would agree that chuck biscuts was pretty great in danzig .. jimmy chamberlain is very significant .. but thats the alt rock category and there are many greats of the past .. mitch mithcell, steve gadd, john bonham, steward copeland .. i think there are people who could talk all day long about that dude from rush or zappas drummer or some jazz drummers or speedmetal drummers .. all who maybe could play better or faster or jazzier .. perky definately has a 'rock' feel that holds him back a little from being a better all around drummer .. but he more than makes up for it creatively .. there are not many records that have so many memorable drum parts as the old janes records .. perky spoke a language with his drums .. it was much more than a beat and thats why he stands out to me as one of the best .. at least back then .. i think his drumming is his most subdued on this new record .. still there are little things in the drum breaks that have that perky magic .. a lot of the new record has some pretty basic beats .. you would not need to be stephen perkins to be able to play them .. but in his prime the dude was off the charts amazing .. easily top 5 of his time .. probably in the top twenty rock drummers of all time ..

for me, of someone is possible to say he's better than other when he adds something new at the way to play something....otherwise, when he creates with less influence a style didn't take by someone else before, and this one became good for others and recognizable among 1000 musicians... definitely, every guy plays drum in a good rock band is really able to do what he do but i guess Chuck Biscuits he isn't an example of particular innovation. If we talk about rock, Perkins really adds something new to drumming! Tim Herb alexander to! I think Keith Moon was the Jimi Hendrix of drum, and Bonham lead that path and that's the story, but not many in these years has made the difference but Perkins surely did it yet more than Billy Ward. I guess...

another fuckin drummer is Dave Miranda of Six and Violence, a beast if we compare him to the guys plays this kind of music....he also received appreciation from Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull
