It's so good to have some fresh news of the farrell's
Your welcome but it's really a privilege to be able to chat with Etty.
All thanks really should go to her for taking the time and being a friend to this site.

Right on as far as the fresh news though.
It's been as quiet as a church mouse since the tour ended.
Which was a big reason I wanted to talk with Etty.
That and so we could find out what's rumor and what's fact.

I'm hurrying bman. :)
What I posted above is about 10 minutes of about 75 minutes of interview.
Do you have any idea how long it takes to transcribe this?
Especially for somebody who hunts and pecks on the keyboard.

Yeah Etty looks beautiful in that pic.
You posting about it reminds me to say thanks to Etty for it.
I stole it from her myspace.
I figure if it's posted there she must like it.

Mike: You know there’s got to be the… I have to ask you about Jane’s Addiction. They’re back in the news again.

Etty: Yeah I’ve heard that and honestly nobody, nobody from the Jane’s camp has spoken to us directly about anything. We’ve heard rumors here and there. Actually just one rumor from our booking agent but nobody from the Jane’s camp has gotten a hold of us. So we honestly don’t know what is going on.

Mike: Well I think what happens is like Dave will post something on his 6767 site and then Perk was recently interviewed talking about the Box Set. Both of these guys have said they’d like to do Jane’s again at some point in time. But then the different media outlets gets hold of it and next thing you know everybody is on a speculation train. Ooh Jane’s are getting back together. This is going to happen… whatever. You know that’s what happens I think.

Etty: So it’s coming from Dave?

Mike: Well Dave, I read his blog the other day and he’s like “I don’t know how these people get this from what I said”. He said “that’s not what I said”. And it’s not if you go and read his blog. But the next thing you know he’s being quoted or Perk is being quoted and stuff is being twisted around to however anybody wants it to be. You know what I mean?

Etty: Right well here’s my honest opinion and this is me alone. It has nothing to do with anybody else. I just want to make sure that everybody understands that. I think that Jane’s Addiction should not make a comeback quote unquote comeback for another few years. I don’t think it’s time. And I do not think they should make a comeback unless Eric is on board.

Mike: I think a lot of people would love to see that happen.

Etty: I’m sure but that’s my opinion. I don’t think Jane’s should come back with another bass player. I think Eric should be on board and this is completely my thinking here. In a couple of years I think Jane’s may be eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Something like that?

Mike: 2012 I think it is. I did the math just recently.

Etty: What is it?

Mike: 2012 it’s twenty-five years after their first release which was September 20, 1987.

Etty: OK well there you go. So at that time I think they would be foolish if they don’t. I think they should do a show with all the original members and they would be foolish not to do a little two week tour after that but only with the original members. Because at this point they have done so many comebacks that unless it’s with the original members there really… you know what I mean? It’s just not going to be the same and it won’t be the same.

Mike: I was so disappointed when things went in the toilet at the end of 2003 because it was… I don’t know. I mean I was hoping to hear another album and I was hoping for a club tour and then next thing you know BOOM they’re broke up.

Etty: You and Perry both. You and all of us both… that was yeah… that was crazy huh?

Mike: Yeah it was but stranger things have happened I suppose.

Etty: I think so too. Yeah.

Mayan Calandar Year 2012 "The Year of Extraordinary Dimensional Shift"
And A Full Janes Addiction Reunion to usher it in :)

"1987 was a momentous year that marked the beginning of humanity’s ascension, rebirth and shift into the Fourth Dimension. 1987’s Harmonic Convergence also marked the beginning of our sun’s direct alignment with the center of our Milky Way Galaxy. This very rare cosmic event has been exposing our whole solar system to intense rounds of “torsion wave” energy. Many believe this newly discovered energy source emanating from Galactic Center is activating our DNA and setting in motion The Great Shift long prophesied by many indigenous traditions, including the Mayan, Incan, Hopi and Vedic.

Mayan timekeepers records indicate that 2012 marks the close of several large cycles of time: a 26,000 year Mayan Calendar cycle, a 78,000 year Earth cycle, a 26 million year Earth cycle and the 225 million Galactic Year. The simultaneous close of these cycles in 2012 is like the odometer turning over for the entire history of our galaxy, and perhaps the whole cosmos. It is a moment when humanity, Planet Earth, the Milky Way Galaxy and perhaps all of creation is expected to take a simultaneous leap in evolution."

Thank you Mike ;)

I'm happy to read Perry is writing electronic music, working with computer and drum bases, i love to hear electronic these days more than r'n'r....

And I agree with Etty, JA reunion has a sense only with Eric on board. ;)

Mike: One other… well actually I have two more Jane’s Addiction related questions and then we’ll get it back into some Satellite Party stuff.

Etty: Of course.

Mike: What Perkins was in the news for… his part of this whole Jane’s reunion thing that’s going. He was talking about the Box Set. Is Perry working on that at all with him?

Etty: The Jane’s Box Set which I could be… I believe is scheduled to be released in the fall. Is that right?

Mike: Sometime latter this year is all I know at this point.

Etty: OK. In December Perry went in one afternoon and did a… what do you call those things... a director’s commentary um… on GIFT.

Mike: REALLY?

Etty: Yeah so that’s coming out. I know he worked on it. I believe that they’re going to try in the next couple of weeks to interview all the original members. Then cut the interviews down into like twenty minutes and include that in the Box Set.

Mike: Awesome.

Etty: Perry thought but this is just an idea he threw out. It might be fun to record one song with Jane’s but only with all the original members. But we don’t think that’s going to happen because I think Eric is still quite reluctant. But who knows? But that’s an idea we were throwing around.

Mike: That’s too bad because that would great to see that happen. I mean that would really get some excitement going for the band and...

Etty; Yeah for the Box Set and believe it or not with myspace not so much facebook because I hate facebook. I couldn’t figure out what facebook is. With myspace I think every so often I would say at least once a week somebody would write and inquire about how they can get a hold of GIFT. I guess it was only released on VHS and they were wondering if they could get it on a DVD. So we’ll see and I know that Stephen has a lot of home videos that he can contribute that he is contributing.

Mike: Excellent! Yeah we’re all… everybody is super curious about what’s going to end up on it.

The idea for one original song to contribute for the set is brilliant.

It makes perfect sense and doesn't seem to be contrary in any way to unsavory motives that might be ascribed to the reunion tours.

What a great way to restore some of the lustre to the set at the twilight of Jane's and leave the bluster OUT.

Next up.....the book.
