I promise to be nice when Porno For Pyros and/or Jane's Addiction release an album of new songs. Till then I will be mean and nasty and slower than a turtle.

I don't forsee a Jane's tour happening this year.

It's too late in the year to do the outdoor sheds in most places. To do arenas in Chicago/LA/NY, they'd now need to schedule around acts that already have these venues booked, plus the home teams as Basketball and Hockey would be in season. That leaves theatres and clubs. It's not going to be easy, and their booking agent has a headache ahead of him.

This is even if they can find a buying MARKET for these shows.

On the last go around, ticket sales and demand were dwindling SEVERELY for the band. The Manson tour was scrapped due to poor interest by fans and promoters.

The current concert business now is an absolute mess. Promoters are losing their shirts on what previously were considered sure things. I don't see them considering the addition of Eric much more of a draw for the casual punter.

I think the band is going to need some festival appearances to fund the tour and balance out the loss that they'd take on the 1-2000 capacity shows that they'll be forced to do in many markets.

This would mean that the earliest a potential full Janes tour could occur would be Spring of 09.

If they are interested in pressing on with new material, then the game plan would be different. This is based on a sole "take the money and play the classics" reunion package. If they plan a new release, then that creates a whole different scenario.

First of all, there's no chance in hell they would do an arena tour or a shed tour. They'd do a club/small theater tour and those are very easy to put together. You may be right about the spring but that's b/c these guys move slooooooow.

From reading the excellent Death and Taxes interview that EA gave recently (posted over at 1%), I don't think this is gonna happen. Eric gives some very insightful replies and, whilst he now clearly sees things from both sides, he practically provides the exact reasons why he shouldn't agree to a reunion.

I've said in previous posts that I think Jane's should be left alone now (in terms of a live band at least) but that's not to say that I wouldn't hit the shows should they make the UK!!!

I would like to see EA and maybe just Perry settle their differences, establish themselves as friends again, and then tackle some smaller project. They would make fucking amazing music together, I just don't necessarily see that it must be under the moniker of Jane's Addiction.

In the last 7 years the other guys have made 2 records, Pete has put out 5 solid albums. He is by far the most prolific. Amazing.

Pete Distefano (5): Gratitude, Soul Trigger, Integrity, Loyalty, Order Of The Dragon plus side projects too numerous to mention.

Dave Navarro (2): Strays, The Panic Channel "One"
Perry Farrell (2): Strays, Ultrapayloaded
Eric Avery (1): Help Wanted

If Perry and EA, or Janes, don't get anything together (or even if they do) I would still love to see Porno get it back together. What they had was seriously developing into something great. They just had a vibe whereby the albums could have swung from one thing to something else without too many people pouring scorn all over it. They had the edge of the 1st album followed by the trippy vibe of the 2nd... the 3rd could have been stripped back acoustic or full on tribal warfare... it would have / could have worked.

They appeared to be a politically / socially aware band and those issues surround us still... war / green issues / racism / sexism etc. They worked all of that together with fucking amazing musicianship, ripping yet beautiful guitars, driving bass, pounding and often subtle drums, plus Per's vocals obviously. Ideally i'd want to see Martyn and Perk involved too, so who knows what the deal could be there.

But anyway, this thread is about Jane's - sorry to go off on one!!!

Not to mention that, along with Help Wanted, Pete's albums are far better than the others...

Ideally?
There can be no P4P without Perkins.
Absolutely NO WAY. It's not even open for debate.

As for Martyn, if I were him I would never want to work with Perry again. Maybe enough money could sway him. Watt, on the other hand, might be available, as long as he's not forced to wear a toga...

Peter Distefano not need the other ones to show he make quality music many times. He does it by self, no help. He has been consistent.
