sounds great through my headphones!! Lots of cool beats and new sounds. I like the use of the keyboards and synths.
Definitely can't compare this to NS or Ritual but you can hear traces of the old.
I really like
Underground
Twisted Tales
Splash A little Water On It
love Words and how Perry is talking in the beginning of the song

Good album man. The beginning of Words made me laugh tho. Do you think the birds took the words from he's mouth just before Reading and Leeds?

I'm digging this more and more as I keep listening to it. It's definitely a step in a different direction. It's Jane's, but not "JA trying to be JA". It definitely hits the mark of being a well-produced album vs. traveling into the realm of being overproduced.

meh - as much as i don't hate this record the way i can't stand strays .. it is definately OVERPRODUCED .. sounds like a fuckin alanis morrisette record. clearly they wrote the record by pasting parts of songs together in the studio .. which is a fine way to write .. but i think this record would sound like a janes record had they taken the ideas and then recorded as a band mostly live with a few over dubs .. some of the production on this record might as well be for a britney spears record .. its way too much and unneccessarily diminishes the greatness of janes as a living breathing group of musicians who play well together. ns and rdlh were both somewhat over produced, but they captured enough of the band, group sound with minimal overdubs .. tgea takes overproduction to a whole nother level ..

overall i think we finally got deconstruction with perry singing .. but at the same time .. we also got a new satellite party record .. it has enough to keep interest .. at the same time the production is as embarassing as playing your guilty pleasure favorite britney song for your friends .. definately not a janes addiction record .. more of a perry record with dave writing the music .. still not sure if this record will hold up .. nothing on here is a classic janes song .. nothing can hold a candle to i would for you or even aint no right .. nothing on there has that kind of simple passion that resonates beyond the studio gadgetry .. i am not sure if any songs on this record would hold up as an acoustic song .. i will be surprisedd if they can pull this music off live at all .. they are already using back trax for IF live and it's ruins the vibe with everyone trying to hear their click track and play along with the computer blips ..

jury is still out .. will listen more

You really think NS and Ritual are overproduced? Sure if you compare it to a stripped down live show, but then couldn't you say that about most straight-up rock records? Ritual is actually considered very poorly mastered by many - which is why a remastered reissue of that album would be epic.

They said from the start that they're going in a different direction, so I'd agree that if you're expecting a classic-style JA album, then yeah TGEA would sound overproduced. Yet, even then I don't think it comes anywhere near the overproduced sound of a lot of pop music these days. :noclue:

well yes i do .. if u compare aint no right rdlh with the live classic girl ep version (and gift vid version) i prefer the live version .. i also really enjoy the acoustic version .. ultimately i would prefer something between the live version and the ritual version .. ns had huge drum issues .. its good .. just a little glossy .. i prefer the xxx versions of pigs and jane says .. but again something in between would be my preference .. i love the tones on good gods much better .. i would love to hear janes remixed more like that .. with acoustic sounding instrumentation and less def leppard overdrive compression kinda stuff .. thats just my preference .. and in the case of the new record, i find myself wondering if it were a little more raw, if it would resonate more as a janes record for me, instead of some weird perry pop attempt. hes got the weight of the janes name behind him, songwriting help, huge corporate sponsorship, been caught stealing was cute at first, now its kind of overplayed itself out .. but the fact is that it was a pop song, this record is ALL pop and nothing on here stands next to been caught for mass appeal potential .. the a n r man said i don't hear a single .. and the road it fades away .. i just think that since its not really a pop record, since there is no actual hit single, that the pop gimmickery could be dropped .. it might have had a better impact on old janes fans .. i swear i'll hit u back could come right off of jagged little pill .. could have been cooler as a janes song .. its odd enough .. same with the coldplay song twisted tales .. the melody would be nicer buried in a janes song instead of this hip hop cris martin mix .. if jay z cameos an intro on the remix i wont be surpised .. and they were all yellow .. did stephen even play on this record or did he just record a couple beats for them to loop each song .. anywho .. i like it every other listen so far ..

splash a little water on it could be a guns n roses song .. except i dont think axl would sing those lyrics .. but instead of daves chorus pedal over drive lead i could totally hear slashes clean les paul strait thru a marshal distortion playing that lead .. then perk comes in with the electronic alanis morrisette drum sound just to ruin the moment a lil more .. i would enjoy it more less compression on the vocals .. less harmonies .. maybe a perkins beat instead of a rock beat ..

i still like broken people tho ..

one thing about warner brothers .. they never told perkins to play a strait beat .. its definately weird hearing perkins play stock beats .. it truly makes me sad cuz i met perkins a couple of times and he is an awesome dude and more importantly .. in janes addiction .. is one of the best drummers out there .. this is just strait rock beats .. very wierd
