It’s inspired playing by a real drummer but now the next frontier is the drummer has to be as effective using effects as the guitar player or the singer

Mike: Alright we’re going to go back to the Jane’s Addiction days for a second here. nexis asks this question. What would it take for you and Eric Avery to make up and become friends again?
Perry: So Eric Avery, great bass player. You know I don’t know. I can’t speak for Eric. I only can speculate why Eric doesn’t want to get involved in things I do. You know we didn’t have an easy time of it. We went definitely, definitely in different directions. During the Jane’s days he got… he had a very different outlook on life. He had a tough time of it for a while and came out of it and just decided to go the clean and sober route. You got to wish him well and let him do his thing.
Mike: Absolutely.
Perry: But I would invite him to join Jane’s and maybe he didn’t want to go through it? You know I still party and I’m not about to stop. I’m sure that being around people that party sometimes can be… especially if you’re not partying… I don’t know it can probably be annoying or whatever and it could be that. Also I do like to have things my way. I’m a sharing guy but I definitely have very strong opinions about things and maybe that has a lot to do with it too. Eric is a very smart guy too and so… probably there’s always a power struggle when you have two strong willed / strong minded guys with strong opinions and he’s an intelligent guy too. It could be that but again like I say I don’t know. You could probably ask Eric and he’ll probably be able to tell you a lot better than me. I always thought that we should continue to play together for a time but I gave up.
Mike: Fair enough. Fair enough.
Some very good insight there, thank you!Mike: Alright we’re going to go back to the Jane’s Addiction days for a second here. nexis asks this question. What would it take for you and Eric Avery to make up and become friends again?

Hehe, awesome sir. You'll soon be rocking with the Farrells.Nothing's Shocking wrote:I'll get another part of the interview posted latter today at some point.
I just got home from a nice Holiday weekend and I'm still rocking like I'm on the boat.
Mike: This is a question that nexis asks and I actually have a lot of interest in this as well. As will a lot of others. Do you have any demo songs in your catalog that never made it onto an official release that you would be willing to release through a medium like itunes for your devoted fans?
Perry: Yeah. Well we do we have… there’s songs that we recorded for “Strays” that we never finished… we never… we didn’t put on the record. I think there was at least two or three of them.
Mike: One I can think of is “Bring The Mood” but I can’t think of any others.
Perry: Yeah that song could be… that could’ve been great and I wanted to release it. We’re putting… supposedly we have a box set that should be coming out with all the rest of our material the last Jane’s stuff. Of course Capitol Records doesn’t want to release those tracks. They don’t want to be helpful at all. I wanted to put their stuff on there to the Capitol Records stuff and they wouldn’t cooperate with Warner Bros. So fuck them. It will sit there for I don’t know how long. Who knows? Maybe one day they’ll get their acts together and do it. But other than that I don’t know. Maybe Stephen Perkins has got stuff lying around? Pete’s got stuff from Porno that he gave to me on a cassette. Its God awful because we were just so high and so terribly stung out that none of us could play very well. It was only… we were practicing on a cassette that’s how long ago this was. You know he wants me to record and finish… do more Porno stuff. I would get together with Pete at a certain point and absolutely do that. We have to wait a little bit. I have to work this project and get this project cooking. Like I say you’ve got to go out and touch the people. I can’t be off and away from the street for to long. I’m just getting out onto the turf but when we get up the road sometime down the line I’d love to get in there and have some fun with Pete and do some more recording with him and Satellite Party. We’ve got our Pro Tools rig set up finally on the bus now, tonight.
Mike: I saw it the other night. You got kind of a kick when you saw it there under the table. Is Satellite Party currently doing some recording while out on the road?
Perry: We just got it set up now. So there’s no stopping us.
Mike: Awesome. Awesome that’s good news.
