We now return you to your regularly scheduled interview:
Mike: You did a chat with Sonny over at Xiola a while back and you mentioned a song called Cling To You. Was that a…
Etty: That must be a long time ago…
Mike: Yeah.
Etty: …because we have not…
Mike: Right. I know you guys are on the outs for obvious reasons. I know you two are on the outs for obvious reasons but was that a Strays era outtake?
Etty: I’m sorry?
Mike: Was that a Strays era outtake as well?
Etty: Cling To You was a song that I think was written for Strays.
Mike: OK.
Etty: Perry brought it in um… and I think Bob Ezrin decided to go with Everybody’s Friend instead of Cling To You as like the sole acoustic song because at that time you know there’s a formula and you can only have one. We still have it and honestly Perry still sings it on his guitar every other week.
Mike: Does he sing it to you?
Etty: He sings it to me yes. He sings it all… it’s one of his favorite songs. He loves that song.
Mike: Do you know how many women are going to be super jealous when they hear that?
Etty: Yeah well you know that… it comes with the territory. It’s funny we were at a Birthday party once of our friend and… and he has… you know he’s… he’s got powerful friends in high places. So when he does his little dinner party there are always a lot of musicians around. From Seal to Anthony Kiedis, John Frusciante to what’s that guy’s name from Sugar Ray?
Mike: I can’t help you there. I’m not to…
Etty: You know who I’m talking about? The Sugar Ray guy but his name is not Sugar Ray. Mark? Mark. He was in Sugar Ray. He was the singer for Sugar Ray and everybody thought his name was Sugar Ray but his name is not Sugar Ray. Anyway I remember we were sitting at dinner and everybody took turns singing you know on the acoustic guitar and whatnot and um… At the end of the dinner everybody went around the table and sang and um… and Mark the Sugar Ray guy and his friend McGee came up to me and they said how do you… and they asked me “How do you live like this?” Like this man probably sings all the time and you get to live with this day in and day out. And I said yes that is true but half the time I would say you know can you shut the fuck up the kids are sleeping. (Laughing) I guess… I guess you just get… you get used to it you know?
Mike: (Laughing) Yeah.
Etty: But it is pretty incredible and he is amazing. You know he would spend hours at home you know with his guitar and singing with the kids writing songs. It’s a pretty amazing process to watch.

Sorry this is taking so long to transcribe.
Here's the last part for today.
Here's the last part for today.
Mike: Can… I want to get back to Satellite Party for a minute now. You know there was a whole theme of a party in outer space on a satellite for this… for the first record. For your second record is that going to continue to be theme based at all or is it just going to be what it is?
Etty: I think it’s going to be what it is. I think the concept of it has not completely gone away. I think Perry still very much wants to make that into a film or like a huge stage show. But with the music industry collapsing we have to refigure out a way to get the material out there. But I think in about five - ten years he’s… you know he’s constantly trying to build up a stage show and he’s constantly trying to make that into like a… you know the whole concept into a film or a musical and he’s actively speaking to people about making that happen. But at the end of the day I think we all agree regardless of where the concept is that the music has to come first.
Mike: OK that...
Etty: And I think this time around um… I think the music is stronger because it’s really Perry doing it. You get it? Last time he partnered up with somebody whose musical influence and taste is different. So the album took way to long. We… you know everybody butted heads and a lot of things that Perry really thought was valuable that make a song what Perry feels a song should be was taken out. You know trying to compromise. So I think this time around I’m… the music is stronger regardless it would be more what Perry would want to write.

Mike: On the Satellite Party myspace a while back there was an announcement that you guys had formed your own record label “Bells Are Ringing”. Is that still very much in the plans to release it independently?
Etty: Yes. We’re going to release digitally and independently. In fact um… yeah I don’t think the majors are doing to well. You know we… most of the people we knew at Sony are gone. So I don’t think the majors are doing to well so we’ll you know… and it’s also nice to have power over your own music as well you know?
Mike: True that’s very true. The only thing I’ve seen on the Bells Are Ringing label so far is I was able to track down a promo copy of Hard Life Easy and it had the Bells Are Ringing… you know printed on there.
Etty: Yeah. That was um… I think we did that while we were touring and that was a radio promo. You’re right and that was the first single that was quote unquote released under Bells Are Ringing but that was towards the end of the tour.
Mike: OK
Etty: This last tour.
Mike: Speaking of tour. Is there any plans to get Satellite Party back out on the road anytime soon?
Etty: Yes. Were actually playing a show at South By Southwest. We have offers and we’re negotiating I think doing five to seven shows in South America.
Mike: Really!
Etty: And um… and probably after that we’ll continue on maybe like a US club tour. It’s what I’m thinking. But again um... work on the music right now, we just switched management so you know all that planning… it’s going to take a minute you know to figure out what’s going to be working best with everybody as far as schedules are concerned.

You're kidding right! First of all, the day Perry becomes a vegas act is the day I stop caring. 2nd of all, this would be horribly bad..Perry is geat at playing with a band and having a couple of hot dancers prancing around stage. I hope he sticks with just that. There was a little bit of acting going on on the first porno tour. I wasn't so into that. Leave the clowns and actors at home.hydro wrote:I think its an awesome idea to do like a huge stage show of perrys concept of "satellite party" wouldnt it be awesome if somehow the fans were incorperated into the musical....i can see this idea being a huge show in vegas

I was just thinking of the possiblitys with the technology we have these days to do something huge on stage to get the messages out about global warming and all the issues we face today in this world it could be a huge huge rock show but with real messages and lots and lots of hot vegas show girls in incrediable makeup and costumes, dude they can do anything in vegas think about it.If they can bring it to ohio thats fine with me too.....we're not talking about a life long show in vegas forever till hes to old to walk.just something spectacular, cool and different

Mike: I’d be remiss if I didn’t ask and I know I spoke to Perry about this back in August but I know him and Pete DiStefano are buddies. Are there any plans for them to get back together anytime soon?
Etty: For what? I’m sorry I missed the first part.
Mike: Pardon me.
Etty: I didn’t get the first part.
Mike: Ooh I just said I know Pete and Perry are good buddies and stuff. Is there any plan for them to get back together soon?
Etty: Well they play together every year at the Kidzapalooza stage. Is that what you mean or you’re more specifically asking about Porno For Pyros?
Mike: No, there’s an unrecorded Porno For Pyros album bouncing around in Pete’s head that he keeps saying he wants to…
Etty: I think that’s a myth. (Laughing) If there is Perry has no knowledge of it.
Mike: Huh. Well, I don’t know I was under the impression that they had some songs. I think Perry even agreed with me that they had some songs that at some point in time he said they’d want to get together.
Etty: Yeah but I think sitting down and singing a couple of songs on the acoustic guitar it’s far from a finished product. You know like… you know what I mean? Like in that case then Perry probably has a lot of songs with a lot of different people. You know every time he sits down with somebody that was recorded. But I don’t think there’s a finished Porno For Pyros album that’s waiting to be released.
Mike: Not waiting to be released. Waiting to be recorded they got like… from what I understand there’s a rough demo tape. And Perry’s words to me if I remember right were that “It sounds God awful”. (Laughing)
Etty: O you know what um… o gosh let me think about this. If you’re asking specifically about Porno For Pyros I don’t think that’s something that’s going to come back for at least five years.
Mike: OK.
Etty: I know that um there’s … actually I’ve heard more rumors about Porno For Pyros coming back than Jane’s Addiction coming back. But as far as I know as far as what Perry’s been telling me he doesn’t think that’s something that’s going to happen at least in the next five years.
Mike: I just think everybody myself included just figures that because those two being such good friends that that’s the natural thing that’s going to happen sooner or later.
Etty: Yeah but at the same time there’s also a natural progression that I think people want to move on as well.
Mike: True. Stay fresh and do new things.
Etty: You know what I mean?
Mike: O absolutely yeah. I follow you.
Etty: So yeah but we love Pete though. He plays with us every year at Kidzapalooza and we love seeing him.
Mike: O Yeah! Those have been some highlights for me. I unfortunately couldn’t make this past year’s Lollapalooza.
Etty: Well maybe this year you can make it.
Mike: I’m hoping. I’m hoping and hoping and hoping. (Laughing)
