Police on alert at Soundwave Festival

The expected 40-thousand revellers at today's Soundwave Festival in Sydney are being warned to behave, stay off the drugs and go easy on the booze.

Police will be out in force, cracking down on unruly and criminal conduct, especially illegal drug use and supply.

Faith No More, Jane's Addiction and Placebo will headline the music festival which will run from 11am (AEDT) until 10.30pm at the Eastern Creek Raceway.

Detective Superintendent Mark Wright says drug detection dogs will be operating and all alcohol will be confiscated from the streets surrounding the event.

Superintendent Wright says police will have a strong focus on illicit drugs, responsible consumption of alcohol and anti-social behaviour.
