I didn't even think about the parking issue- I haven't been there in years and I used to always park for free on the side streets...LizardWiz, do you know if they've changed it to resident permit parking only?

Well I flew in to beautiful, sunny, warm, busy LA yesterday.
What a change from the cold dreary place I came from. :)
I picked up a copy of the LA Weekly and The Solutionists are playing tonight @ Spaceland.
I can't believe I'm so lucky to be here.
I went on a tour of LA yesterday and evey place I went I was reminded of the history of this town.
Tonight a new chapter will be written.
I need to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming.
I feel so lucky to be here to see it first hand.

First off I want to thank Etty and Perry for inviting me to the show. :)
With that taken care of let me say WOW what a incredible show!
My invite was for plus one and I took Pete Distefano with me as my guest.
I only mention taking Pete because one of the coolest things I saw all night took place during the soundcheck.
Pete and myself were the only two people in Spaceland other than the band, crew, and the Spaceland staff.
Pete as you know did some work on a couple of tracks for the forthcoming release.
So, Pete is introducing me to Carl, Kevin, and Nuno.
While he's talking to Nuno it's easy to see the respect that these two have for one another.
Which brings me to my point.
Nuno offered to let Pete come up and play.
That gesture alone gives me a whole new perspective on Nuno.
I think if you're around my age and grew up loving Perry's earlier work that Nuno's earlier work wasn't something that you would have listened to.
I had a chance to chat with all the members of the band after the gig and I was honest with Nuno about my youthful attitude that I was to cool to listen to his music.
I got the feeling he appreciated my candor and we both laughed about it.

OK I'm going to try and put into words what a incredible show I saw last night.
The setlist was:
Wish Upon A Dog Star
Celebrate
Hard Life Easy
Kinky
Awesome
Mountain Song
Insanity Rains
Ultra Payloaded Satellite Party
Spaceland is about the size of the first venue I saw Perry play at in 1988 with Jane's Addiction.
The place was packed with people who were pumped to see Satellite Party.
Several were members of this forum and it was very exciting for me to meet you all.
It's nice to put a face with a user name if you know what I mean.
The band was tight but loose.
What I mean by that is they were firing on all cylinders but at the same time having a good time as was the very positive audience.
The sound at this venue was terrific.
All instruments and voices could be clearly heard.
I want to say to the naysayers that Etty Farrell has pipes and is much more than just a pretty face up there.
Her backing vocals seemed flawless and they fit beautifully in the context of the songs.
There was so much raw energy being channeled from that stage that it infected everyone in the audience!
I'm a people watcher and there wasn't a person in the place that wasn't dancing and / or moving to the music including myself.
It's that type of music that dares you to try and sit still.
It just can't be done!
It's very hard for me to pick a highlight of this show.
I guess if I was forced to I would have to say Insanity Rains.
The band just seemed to kick it into the next gear on this one and this song just flat out smokes live.

I will post some pictures once I'm able to upload them.
I'm not home right now and I forgot the cable for my camera. :(
I have to say that flying out to L.A. and seeing this show was worth every penny it cost me.
If you missed this show you missed a show for the ages.
It was that good and it's not something that I'll forget anytime soon.

"THE SOLUTIONISTS" nailed it!! I can't sum it up any better than NS did- in short, a lovely night all around...It was my 3rd time seeing Satellite Party, and it was their best show yet.

The doorman busted me for having a camera, but SR and NS helped in smuggling in both my film and digital camera...THANKS!! :) So, I'll post some pics later tonight. I also took a set-list, which I'll scan and post when I'm home. I was glad I got to hang with some familiar faces and also meet some new people from the boards.
