Closing escrow tomorrow means everything has to be out of the house - the giant safe, old JA & PFP sessions(tapes), sculptures, artwork...
Some time I like they re release Porno For Pyros with alternate take and unrelease song. A box set.

I'd love to be able to get my paws on some new Porno For Pyros.
Be it some previously unreleased recordings, a live album, or a mixture of both.
I just don't see it happening anytime soon.
Perry and Perk have both got their hands full with Jane's at the moment and I doubt PFP stuff is on either one of their radars.

It does make me droll a little thinking about it but I just don't think we'll be hearing it anytime soon.

Yeah - it's been nearly fifteen years since they've put out an album and toured. When JA was "on the outs", as much talk as there was of people thinking it would be cool for a P4P reunion, during their heyday, they got so much shit for not being JA.

As much as I love GGU as an album, it wasn't much of a commercial success. Kettle Whistle sold more copies

i thought with pets pfp sold more than ritual????

as a band i like pfp way better ... janes had magic at the time but ive never been a fan of the hair metal aspect and pfp had a more punk organic surfer vibe that i thought could have handled the janes back catalog and pfp work brilliantly ... with the pure janes rehash we get the return of the cringe factor as well ... as in cheesy metal guitar solos ... pete always had a very tasteful guitar sound and interesting solos ...i even like that dj soundeffects guy .. i would love to see the pete watt era pfp regroup write record and play out all of perrys catalog live

i dont think the dave duff era can handle it as well ... they are very busy trying to sound like a badass heavy metal band and pete really negates that irritating janes factor just by his own personal playing style ... perry also writes way better with pete than he does with dave ... daves spread record was great and i wish that style would come out with janes but he for some reason is stuck on writing riffs with perry ... janes needs a very very strong bass writer to be successful ... flea almost pulled it off

i was listening to the pfp osaka show the other day and it blew me away how good martyn was ... just his bass carried a lot of those songs ... but what was great about pfp was that pete could bust out a pets or bali eyes or good gods ... watt or lenoble very capable of writing with perry ... duff dave ???? i dont know i have my doubts but i will stay tuned ...

i am really excited to hear embrace the darkness and ill protect u ... it may be a train wreck or it may be brilliant
whatever it is i think it will really reveal the dynamic between the original 4
and perhaps why they split again.

anyways i was reading the lyrics page the other day and perrys writing style on strays is so different than pfp or janes ... its all these wierd play on words that do not flow off the tongue or make much sense easily ... i dont get what happened there ... lyrically i like sat party better to be honest ... i know he still has it .. its just when hes workin with dave perrys lyrics seem to take a sharp detour ...
if pete and lenoble or watt joined perry and steve do u think perry could get away with calling it janes???
then just play his whole catalog???

Nope, not even close.

P4P's self-titled album was hotter out of the gate than Ritual, and was certified gold (500k copies sold) on 6/29/1993, just over 2 months after it was released. Ritual was certified gold on 11/30/1990, just over 3 months after it was released.

However, Ritual was certified platinum (1 mil copies sold) on 9/24/1991, and eventually double platinum (2 mil copies) on 3/16/2000. P4P has yet to reach platinum status, and GGU hasn't even been certified gold.

I don't think that neither of those songs are planned for the new JA album. Also, I am pretty sure that "I'll Protect You" was never finished as the band wasn't happy with its progression.

No way that would fly. Dave's guitar work is Jane's signature. There are already fans who don't think they should be calling themselves Jane's w/o Eric Avery. No Avery or Navarro? That'd never work. Plus, that lineup already recorded as P4P. So it would just never work.

yeah but i think it would fly cuz with pete i think the hardcore fans would be totally fine with it and would love to hear the band pull from the full catalog instead of just janes tunes ... and the non hardcore fans probably didnt mind cheney and wouldnt notice pete either ... ideally u could have pete just join janes but i think with dave involved u really need a stronger bass presence than duff ... that is to get the ultimate ultimate janes record ... but maybe this one will be great???? ... i really think dave and pete could sound good together but under the janes moniker i have doubts that dave would dig it ... but some one could ask ... i just think pete writes really great for perry especially the way perry sings now the pete songs hold up better ... so pete could bring some of that into the band and dave could focus on what he does best with perry which is create dissonant moody texture .... the problem is that dave has to write the music now so hes got to really hold down the structure alot where as before he could spread out and make melodic noise that intertwined with the main structure of the song ... that is where dave shines ... not doing power chords and metal riffage ... so thats my take ... pete has enough of the janes vibe that they could really get some of that old mojo back but the old sound centered so much around bass lines that no matter how u look at it its probably not going to have that old janes sound ... i guess duff maybe will bring a bit of that la vibe could be cool the way mike watt was cool .. i definately think lenoble is the closest to erics style and importance but watt turned pfp into a punk vibe so maybe duff can do the same
