"Rev" Was Initially Recorded For Kettle Whistle

I stumbled across a press sheet for Rev on ebay recently.
It's still available if anyone is interested.

Anyway the part that I thought was interesting is this bit:
The two new songs are "Rev" (with Tom Morello and John Frusciante on guitars).
Initially recorded for but not included on 1997's Kettle Whistle,
I seem to remember hearing the band had worked on other tracks while recording for Kettle Whistle but up to now don't remember ever hearing that one of those songs was Rev.
Maybe this is old news and I just missed it somehow.
Does anyone else have any info on this?

hmm, never heard that. weird that no other members of Jane's are on it, correct? Maybe there's an unreleased "Jane's version" of it somewhere?

Exactly!
I never heard of it starting life as a Jane's song either and that's why I'd like to get to the bottom of this.
Perk is credited with drums on it.
I hope there's an unreleased Jane's version of it out there somewhere.
I really like So What and the released version of Rev but would like to hear what Dave and Flea added to the song.

seems like it was originally part of gobalee, which was perry and perk, so it's not surprising that he plays drums on the song. i've never heard of it being a part of kettle whistle, but it's possible.
i love the song. my favorite perry solo song.

I finally remembered to ask Dave about this on tonight's Dark Matter and he said that he never played on it.

Wow I totally missed that bit when I looked it over.
Thanks for pointing it out and of course it is a Porno For Pyros cover.
Here's our info page for it for anyone who wants to check it out.

Rev was also the name of the very short-lived project band of Perry and Morello that eventually didn't release anything. It seems that there's no mention nowhere of this fact anymore. The song 'Rev' was obviously recorded during those particular sessions.
