Good question I guess but I honestly have no idea.

Eric is approachable more or less.
Why not just ask him on his blog?

does Eric's opinion, or anyone's, matter more than your own?

he wasn't impressed when i emailed him. thought it sounded like the new rock era jane's addiction.

who's surprised really? the song is ok, very middle of the road and the lyrics just sink it to the low, low level of "i like 'em big".

I like the song but I also like some of Strays if not all. I would like to compare the two songs they wrote with Eric with End to the Lies to see what sounds better not like old Jane's just better!

They're clearly a different band now than they were in the late 80's/early 90's. ETTL has some of the 'Strays' era vibe to it, so it will be interesting to hear how the rest of the album comes out.

If the new album continues the Strays vibe, does that mean a lot of 'disgruntled' JA fans have an apology letter to write to Bob Ezrin? :lmao:

Personally, songwriting aside, there are already big differences from Strays. This one track is more sonically adventurous than anything on Strays. The types of musics being tapped, like drone*, are a big difference from what Strays was going for. I can still hear some modern alt. rock radio elements, of course, but I think they've already taken a satisfying step away from Strays. Bob Ezrin will be getting no notes from me, but I'll always admire some things he did in his prime, like Lou Reed's Berlin.

*There is some drone that I'm very into, which is more of an atypical tropical, psychedelic, and dub-like variety.

Jasper I would be very intrested in some of those drone bands......I can remember a moment ...When I was really young...It was Led Zeppelin's In the Light on my 8 track  ..I think back and see that as the moment my eye'z and ears connected with the visions like sugar plum'z dancing in my head...was the moment I learned alot about the build of a song...the spirit?.taking the time to make love..beyond my bare balls that hadn't dropped yet  ...those bagpipes and sitar like drones suck me in
