Re: Jane's In The Studio Clips [One - Six]
I was enjoying End To The Lies. I thought it was pretty good, but we've established that I like droning, textural stuff before. The Irresistible Force tune, I don't know yet. It could go either way. I'd have to hear the whole thing.
That said, clips 4, 5, and 6 are my jams. I am unabashedly declaring my love of those sounds. Will I love the entire songs? I don't know - we don't even hear any vocals/lyrics. I doubt they're doing any instrumentals, but it would be cool, and it would also be cool to have a semi-instrumental like "Up The Beach" where the voice is mostly like another instrument.
Anyways, like I said at xiola, 4 and 5 seem like they could be from the same track. Whatever the case, I love them, and it feels good to hear something from these guys that I can completely get behind - something I might listen to even if it were from some new, unknown band. I haven't been able to say that for a long time.

I'm really nervous about "Irresistible Force". I heard more clips of it from the e3 event where some of it was played over video game clips. It's hard to judge since the sound was secondary to gunfire and other extraneous sfx, but I don't like some of the escalating "Ohs". I wince when Perry get's too dramatic... like "to Match the Sun", one of the lowest points of Jane's career. This song may be headed in that direction. Supposedly we will be hearing it in it's entirety in the next few days according to some online sources.

To Match The Sun has to be the most contentious song in Jane's history. A lot of people like it. It seems to be either a love-it-or-hate-it kind of track. I'm not a fan myself. Hate may be too strong a word, but I'm not into it. The first time I heard it, the intro made me think it was going into some tripped-out psychedelic jam, but it didn't, and since it was the last tune that was the moment I knew there would be no tripped-out psychedelic jams on Strays.
I know what Seth means, and that's why the jury's out on Irresistible Force. It seems kind of Pop-y in bombastic sort of way, sort of U2 style. It's not like the parts we've heard haven't gotten stuck in my head a few times, but that tends to happen to anything you listen to several times in a row. I'm open-minded - it may end up being something I really like.

this might sound like a strange thing to say but has anyone heard the Cure album Bloodflowers? Irresistible Force is sounding kind of like that to me. Not a bad thing though. Nice and dark.

Not strange when you think how much Dave likes Robert Smith. It's a good thing.

The clips 5/6 are instrumental cuts that Perry couldn't figure out how to put vocals over, so they were set aside as teasers. They will never be released as JA songs.Hidefumi wrote:I wish they can release these ones.
