That alone would have been worth the price of admission.hydro wrote:the word is they played Kimberly Austin
Is it just me or does Perry have the biggest fucking smile on his face every time he does one of these sets with Pete?

Lolla served up what we have to call a major disappointment at the Kidza stage this afternoon, when Lolla founder Perry Farrell’s set consisted of just two songs, the first of which was plagued by sound glitches. Neither song featured any guests besides Farrell’s former bandmate in Porno for Pyros, Peter DiStefano.
That’s not meant to be a knock on DiStefano, who had previously rocked out with Kidzapalooza cofounder Tor Hyams and Keller Williams—a set that rocked a teensy bit too loudly, according to some parents. In anticipation of Farrell’s appearance, the entire shaded grove surrounding the Kidz stage was crowded with seasoned Lolla-goers, who knew that Farrell’s annual all-ages set typically includes surprise guests.
But our best prognosticators here at Time Out Chicago Kids were anticipating Dave Grohl as the guest star and, based on the number of fans wearing Foo Fighters T-shirts in the crowd, we weren’t the only ones. Still, a Grohl-free set would’ve been fine if Farrell and DiStefano had offered more than just two numbers. Their acoustic take on Porno’s “Kimberly Austin” was beset by a bad connection; when the crackling mic finally cut out for a few moments, it was hard to decide whether it was a shame or a relief.
Farrell managed some cute banter with the kids before the duo’s second song, a cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Gypsy Boy” which, Farrell told the crowd, would involve them singing, too. “Here we go—this is going to be a kumbaya moment,” he quipped. Most folks didn’t bother to croon along and, once it was over, quickly filed out, many wondering aloud why Farrell didn’t play half an hour or more, as he has in prior years.

I think Perry has serious ADD! He simply refuses to play long sets.

this could be true but I also imagine that he is pulled in so many directions and always has something or someone needing him to do this or that, that he possibly couldn't concentrate on one thing for too long.bman wrote:I think Perry has serious ADD! He simply refuses to play long sets.

ahh that's a bum deal about the sound issues , the guys on my FB that were there didn't seem to complain though so that's a good thing. and if only 2 songs I'll take Kimberly Austin and Gypsy Boy over some other choices and I'll take Pete over Dave Grohl any dayMike wrote:http://timeoutchicagokids.com/arts-ente ... ive-reviewPerry Farrell and Peter DiStefano | Live review

Great stuff.
