Una de las bandas que definieron el llamado "rock alternativo" desde fines de los años 80, y que luego de desintegrarse y retornar varias ocasiones ahora muestra mayor estabilidad y su fuerza acostumbrada, además de estatus de leyenda, viene a nuestra ciudad.
De acuerdo con información proporcionada a El Norte por Dante Guillén, vocero de la promotora Zignia Live, Jane's Addiction tocará en la Arena Monterrey el viernes 13 de abril.
En la nota publicada en el diario el domingo 4 de marzo, Guillén señala que habrá preventa para tarjetahabientes Santander los días 8 y 9 de marzo, y el 10 inicia la venta general; los boletos costarán de $300 a $800 pesos.
Jane's Addiction suele citarse como una de las bandas primigenias del rock alternativo, e inspiración para bandas que surgieron poco después, como Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam y Tool (mencionadas en su sitio web).
Sus integrantes conocidos son el vocalista Perry Farrel, creador del concepto del festival Lollapalooza, y el guitarrista Dave Navarro, personaje que además de ser magnífico con su instrumento, suele aparecer en notas escandalosas (como cuando se casó y divorció con Carmen Electra).
Los otros dos miembros de la banda son el baterista Stephen Perkins y el bajista Chris Chaney (quien en la gira ocupa el sitio del bajista original Eric Avery, quien dejó a la banda hace dos años). Su disco más reciente es The great escape artist.

En los conciertos en lugares más grandes, como será el caso de la Arena Monterrey, el espectáculo presentará algunas diferencias “por cuestiones de logística”, menciona la página web de la banda.
Jane’s Addiction había estado a punto de venir a Monterrey en el 2009 a la misma Arena, aunque con una empresa promotora distinta; el concierto nunca se confirmó.
El año pasado la banda tocó en el festival Vive Latino en el DF, pero no realizó gira por otras ciudades mexicanas.
Ahora el cuarteto californiano tocará tanto en la Arena Ciudad de México (15 de abril) como en la Arena Monterrey.
El tema “Underground” es el más reciente sencillo promocional de Jane’s Addiction.
