RESPONSE TO QUESTIONS REGARDING
HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME STAR
FOR WHITNEY HOUSTON
HOLLYWOOD, CA—February 13, 2012- The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has received numerous inquiries about Whitney Houston, the great voice who left us too soon. The media and fans have asked us whether Whitney Houston has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Houston was selected in 1995, but a date was never requested by the singer’s representatives for a star-unveiling ceremony. The approved selection expired in 2000, after the five-year allotted time to receive the star once someone has been selected. However, the Walk of Fame Committee would be happy to consider re-instating the status of the star if it is desired by the family.
“It is up to the family and or representatives to connect with the Hollywood Chamber regarding the issue of a star ceremony,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “At this time we believe that the family should be left to grieve for their dearly departed. At such time as they are ready, we would be open to discussions about setting a date to immortalize the legendary Whitney Houston with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”
