I noticed that Nuno is credited with a bulk of the bass playing on the album. The only thing i can see Carl credited for is additional 808 programming. Did Carl come in too late to be a contributer? I liked Peter Hooks & Flea's playing but the rest of the bass playing is average and nothing special. Tim Pierce played guitar on The Solutionists, who is he? he's good. The riff starting at 3:40 into the song is cool.
NS do you happen to have any plans for a followup interview with Perry? If so, I have some more questions ready.

Carl got involved with Satellite Party long after most of the songs had been written.
Don't forget Tony Kanal was playing bass with them back in 2005.
It seems like Carl is a permanent member now.
I would imagine he'll be more involved in the next record.

I don't know anything about Tim Pierce.
Maybe he came in through the Thievery Corporation side of things?
I'll try to google him and find out more after football.
