Perry with The Doors on "Storytellers"

So, back in 2000 the remaining Doors did a little special for VH1 "Storytellers," where they teamed up with a number of modern-day vocalists to play some Doors classics.

This show began with a fade-in featuring Mr. Farrell singing the conclusion of "L.A. Woman." In my opinion Perry was the only one fit to stand in the shoes of Morrison in that entire show and, in fact, on all of planet Earth.

I'd like to know a couple of things about this performance.

1. Why did they cut this? Was it flawed? Was there a legal or financial issue? Was there some kind of time issue?
2. Is there audio or video of this performance out there in fan circles?

My favorite bands in the rock sphere are Jane's, The Doors, and the Velvet Underground. I love what Perry did with "Woman In the Window," and of course I love the couple of recordings of "L.A. Medley" I've got. This would be a really neat thing to hear.

Hey Jasper, I've often wondered why the fade in and not the complete song myself.
As for whether there's audio or video of the complete performance I'm not sure.
I'll need to look through what I have and contact a friend of mine.
If I find out anything I'll let you know.

I seem to remember after posting the above that there was some guy looking to trade his recording for some computer parts.
I think it was this show but I'm not 100% positive.
I'll ask around like I said i would and let you know. :)

I remember the same story

The guy wanted a counterpart for his recording of VH1
There's been a bargain attempt on Xiola, then if someone made the trade, he didn't share what he got... :(

Thanks nestos for confirming what I thought I remembered.
I'm getting old and my memory sometimes fails me.
At least I still have all my hair.

Anyway I should be able to talk to my friend about this recording this weekend.

Hi Jasper, I spoke with my friend this weekend and I'm afraid it's bad news I bring you.
As far as he knows a recording of this show does not circulate. :(

Who knows it may turn up someday.
I belong to a Zeppelin site and every now and again new shows by them turn up.

I guess all we can do right now is keep our fingers crossed.

Oh well, Mike, thanks for trying. I wish I at least knew why it was cut in the first place. Pretty odd way to start a show.

Anyways, all I can say is, try to keep it in mind if you get the opportunity to interview Perry again.
