So cool VV...I heard the story of yr wristband....I'm stoked for you.

I LOVE those pictures, especially the burlesque, so sexy and radiant....a perfect war-up for the real Jane's.

I believe it's unspoken, but I so badly wish you captured all of Then She Did instead of, say, Ocean Size. BUT, the outro of Ocean Size was siiick.

Though I am certainly not complaining, this was some of the best 24 minutes of video I've ever seen. And the three songs you left out recording were definitely the right choices!

So what's left for them to perform, after the 3 performances thus far this year?

I Would For You
My Time
Summertime Rolls
Idiots Rule
Suffer Some
Slow Divers
Kettle Whistle
Obvious
Three Days
Of Course
Classic Girl
Ripple
My Cat's Name is Maceo (? ha)

They need to hurry up on Idiots Rule, and play it once more with "George Bush rules!" before January 20 :dance2:

Something tells me Of Course is never coming back.. which would be a damn shame. We'll see.

:perrygreen:

You all do realize this is the first time we've seen Perry and Eric EXCHANGING smiles, and working together on the stage... in probably 20 years? Amazing.

JANE'S ADDICTION: Silverlake Footage Available - Nov. 23, 2008

The original lineup of JANE'S ADDICTION played another tiny venue in Los Angeles this past week. Following on the heels of last month's near-impossible-to-get-into engagement at downtown's La Cita, the band performed at Silverlake's El Cid this Thursday evening, November 20.

The group's setlist was as follows:

01. Whores
02. Trip Away
03. Standing In The Shower… Thinking
04. Mountain Song
05. Ain't No Right
06. No One's Leaving
07. Then She Did
08. 1%
09. Stop
10. Had A Dad
11. Ocean Size
12. Chip Away

Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be viewed below (courtesy of "LAwomanPhotography").

JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro wrote on his blog about the concert, "The show went really well. During 'Then She Did' some kind of ghost invaded the circuitry in my amp and pretty much shut it down. We managed to get through it thanks to Dan, my tech, and the skills of my bandmates. With [Stephen] Perkins [drums] and [Eric] Avery [bass] as the rhythm section, things just keep moving along regardless of any technical issue. After 'Then She Did', Perry's [Farrell, vocals] amazing ability to captivate any room allowed him to engage the audience for 5-10 minutes while my equipment was being repaired. Once Dan solved the issue, we were back in the swing."

He continued, "The whole night really felt like the old days... the music, the lineup, the fans, Christmas lights, candles, a hot little club, things breaking down on stage, the entire audience singing along with every word of the set. What a spectacular way to spend a Thursday night!"

JANE'S ADDICTION, including founding bassist Eric Avery, did reunite for a four-song set at the NME Awards USA in Los Angeles last April, where they were presented with the Godlike Genius Award.

In an Augist 2008 interview with Altitude, frontman Perry Farrell said about the NME Awards USA reunion show, "It was both fun and horrible. It's like having a girlfriend that you have always been in love with and you'll always be in love with but you don't quite get along with...every time you get together, you end up throwing food at each other." He added that there was as much likelihood of a full-blown reunion "as there being commercial space flights."

The band has reunited twice before, in 1997 and 2001, but without Avery. RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea, Chris Chaney and Martyn LeNoble all took turns in the lineup.

Hence the matter of time reference.

At least they gave credit where credit was due.

Not really a review.
Maybe more of a critique of his own performance and happenstance I suppose.

Great read non-the-less.

From Eric Avery's blog:

show was really good. it worked. small doesnt necessarily mean intimate but on this night it did. everyone was hanging out before the set watching a really charming burlesque show (which is, by the way, a regular happening at the el cid). perry, his wife and kids, our friends, our crew, my folks, and all the people who waited outside in line all day were mixing in the crowd. there was no 'us and them'. just us hanging. vibe.

i generally judge shows on two levels; one being the public general show level and two being my selfish personal internal experience. they are often unrelated. the set on a macro level was great. everyone was into it. perry was on fire. we even had a crowd surfer. very proud of him. on the personal level, how do i put this, i am looking forward to having more room onstage. i find it difficult to get lost in the physicality of performance when i am constrained spatially; when i cant move around freely. if the analogy is sex (i know, i know, a worn analogy but i think effective still) it is when you are having sex with a beautiful woman; you are feeling it; she is feeling it; but, your pet is on the corner of the bed staring at you. so great. really great. but not all the way lost in it.

perry told a story from the stage about janes playing club lingerie back in the day. i wanted to add something that he didnt mention. it was a 21 and over club. so before we started playing i went to the back door and let in my friends who werent old enough to get in legally. the club caught me and kicked my friends out. i then told the club that i wasnt going to play. so perry took me outside and we walked down sunset blvd and he tried to talk me down. finally he said that if i would play the show, he would do a bar run. i was convinced. as we neared the end of the last song, he left the mic, jumped onto a table, a railing and onto the bar without touching the floor. he then ran down the bar kicking over everything for the entire length of the bar and disappeared backstage. heroic.

so la cita and el cid; two for two.
BTW I'm such a dork I'm trying to figure out which Club Lingerie show he's writing about.
