has confirmed that former JANE'S ADDICTION frontman Perry Farrell has unearthed a lost track featuring the vocals of THE DOORS' Jim Morrison and will be releasing the song, "Woman in the Window", on his SATELLITE PARTY project, due early next year.
According to AOL Music, Farrell composed the music to complement a tape of Morrison reading one of his original poems. After a very brief musical intro, Morrison's vocals begin: "I am the woman in the window." The song is a potent reminder of how beautiful Morrison's voice could be as his sing-song vocals, reminiscent of "Love Street", are delivered against a musical backdrop Farrell describes as "a little down-tempo, a little chill."
Farrell says the refrain of the song, which finds Morrison singing, "Just try and stop us, we're going to love," is the mantra of the Solutionists, the heroes of his conceptual SATELLITE PARTY project. While the song features poetic imagery, Farrell says he adapted the vocals to fit the music. "I want this to be on the radio," he says.

I've been a Doors fan for a long time and a Perry fan for almost as long.
This collaboration was most unexpected.
When I first heard the track at Lolla in 2005 Jim's voice was unmistakable.
I was lucky enough to hear it again this past June.
I have no idea what Jim's intentions were for this poem but Perry does a great job with it.
I imagine the remaining Doors being quite happy with it.
I know I like it.

What does "unearthed" mean?
Did the guys from the Doors release the track. Did Perry find it at a garage sale?
I'm curious.
Anyone know?

If my memory is correct somebody had this recording all these years.
Nobody even knew it existed. I'll try and find some more info for you.
un·earth (ŭn-ûrth')
tr.v., -earthed, -earth·ing, -earths.
1. To bring up out of the earth; dig up.
2.
To bring to public notice; uncover.

The news about that track was in 2005.

It's from Jim Morrison's "Lost Paris tapes". I think the guy got somehow the original tapes, and called Perry.
I've heard it the first time in the Perez dj set at Coachella. It was hard to understand if was Perry or Jim singing, low register of voice....

oZ passed along some info on this "woman in the window" track. it was featured on a bootleg circa 1993, so it's a know track/song... as far as doors fans go.
