they are different shows - one is in Scotland, the other in Ireland

I'm guessing same promoter - kinda like the Reading/Carling weekend - two festivals w/ a lot of the same lineup

so JA will play one day at each place

Yeah helicine that's pretty much it in a nutshell.
When Satellite Party played these two festivals back in 2007 I remember the web sites being very similar.
Just the festival name was different.
They're like sister festivals.

T in the Park: Jane’s Addiction steal the show

“See how good we are on five shots of vodka and no sleep?” reasoned Farrell. “You should see us when we’ve had some sleep. We’re awesome.”

An ominous warning on the giant video screens precedes the Jane’s Addiction show: “Be aware organised pickpockets are operating at T in the Park”.

It's especially timely, given that 90s alt-rock legends Jane’s Addictions are gearing up to take to the stage and play biggest hit Been Caught Stealing. However, at first it was the band themselves who were robbed of time: 35min late into an hour set¸ how would the seminal reformed outfit cope with such time pressures?

Well, by ignoring them completely it seemed! The resplendent four-piece took to the NME Stage led by singer Perry Farrell, clad in a purple jumpsuit like a pimped-up Prince imitator, quickly turning his back to the audience to shake a fastened furry tail at the band’s ardent fanbase. Oh, the sheer cheek of it all.

By the time of Three Days he’d already ripped his shirt open, waving the back of it like the campest matador you’ve have the pleasure of clapping eyes on. Of course, it was only a matter of time before he got his maracas out… (The musical instruments that is, as though I could be accused of any innuendo.)

But for their unfortunately curtailed set-time it was as though Jane’s Addiction had never been away, so mighty was their onstage presence. An odyssey of Dave Navarro’s swirling guitar histrionics underpinned by quick-fire pulsating percussion – which Farrell then yelped over with an endearing enthusiasm (if little decipherability) – it was clear that the band were relishing their time in the Scottish spotlight.

“See how good we are on five shots of vodka and no sleep?” reasoned Farrell. “You should see us when we’ve had some sleep. We’re awesome.”

Even before he went into a hilarious if indescribable (on a family website) tirade against an audience member who’d given him the fingers, it was hard to argue with the wonderfully eccentric lead singer that his band were on blistering form. They finished the night with a resplendent Been Caught Stealing, but by then they’re long since stolen the show.

Jane's Addiction booed at T In The Park
Ting Tings' lateness causes the band to curtail their NME/Radio 1 Stage set

Jul 11, 2009

Jane's Addiction were booed at T In The Park tonight (July 11), because they only played a seven-song set.

Singer Perry Farrell and co were 40 minutes late coming onto the NME/Radio 1 Stage, after being held up by The Ting Tings overrunning before them, forcing the US band to cut short their set.

After playing final song 'Ted, Just Admit It', the band left the stage without addressing the crowd. Many in the audience expected them to come back onstage for an encore, though when it became clear that this wouldn’t happen, they started booing.

Earlier in their set, Farrell had chastised a member of the crowd who stuck his fingers up to the singer after he quipped: "See how good we are on five shots of vodka?"

Pointing to the crowd member making the V-sign, Farell said: "Why don't you stick one [finger] up your girlfriend’s cunt and stick one up your own ass? Basic mathematics. Anyway, let's fucking rock this bitch."

Though it was unclear whether the singer was being malicious or not, some members of the audience responded to the putdown by shouting abuse at him.

Farrell also encouraged T In The Park fans to sneak into next year’s event, because ticket prices are too high.

"Did any of you sneak in? I checked it out, it's easy," he asked the assembled crowd after playing 'Three Days'. "Very expensive ticket. If it was me I'd steal it," he added, with a shrug of his shoulders. The band then played a rousing rendition of their anthem 'Been Caught Stealing'.

"Come on you drunken fuckers! You ready to stay up for three days?" Farrell teased the crowd after playing the track.

Wearing a two-piece purple suit with no shirt but a furry tail, at one point Farrell climbed onto a perch in the middle of the stage to show the audience his shoes, which were painted silver.

Guitarist Dave Navarro played much of the set with a lit cigarette in his mouth, while Farrell danced around him.

Jane's Addiction played:

'Whores'
'Ain’t No Right'
'Three Days'
'Mountain Song'
'Been Caught Stealing'
'Ocean Size'
'Ted, Just Admit It'
