yeah, i'm in definite denial... i'm trying to recall a comparable situation with another band, with a different member working on new songs while an original member is touring, with no real confirmation on what's happening... very weird.
another thought is that maybe eric was under contract (or that lineup was under contract) to perform the shows they did, and that was that, and australia is simply eric fulfilling his contractual obligations to the band before going his own way. remember that these aussie gigs were rescheduled, and maybe that's to blame for the weird overlap of writing without eric before touring WITH eric.
either way, i'm upset... i really hoped it would stick with eric, and i believe they could have made incredible new music. i also really wanted to see a jane's-only show in a smaller venue, and that's looking unlikely, at least with the original crew. maybe they'll play a couple small venue farewell shows with eric before moving forward with someone new.
another thing - if embrace the darkness is a farrell-navarro-avery-perkins written track, it'll be interesting to see if it is credited that way if it sees release in the future. i was looking through the kettle whistle booklet the other day, and i'd forgotten that the track kettle whistle was credited to farrell-navarro-perkins-flea, when we all know that track was written with eric and played live as early as 86/87. flea definitely changed the bass part on the KW version, but i was surprised eric didn't get a co-write on a track that he surely contributed to.
random thoughts, sorry to ramble.

It's over folks! I saw 5 shows with Eric in 09 and I'm greatful..It was awesome and no one plays his bass lines like him...But he bailed..again...So either he's pretty flakey (possibly), or Perry'z the most difficult person in the world to work with (possibly!)..Either way it was bound to end soon. Hopefully whatever comes next will be a lot better than the 03 era. They may only play festivals now. So who knows.

Sticky Fingers said sumpthing over at Xiola that made me think....Maybe Eric jest likes a quiet life...Good books...good food...movies with his wife..etc.....If Eric was that angry he wouldn't be playing these upcoming gigs...We dont know how it really is...Perry does seem kinda sad....I didnt mean to start the Duff fluff...but im sure other people sniffed that out as well....I like it when it'z happy and lighter...this kinda sucked the joy from it...I love Jane's...Im sure this will work itself out jest how it'z spossed ta....alwayz does
