Guitarist Peter DiStefano of Porno for Pyros will travel to Bozeman on April 10 to offer a guitar clinic, followed by a performance at the Eagles with one time band mate Bill Costigan of Bozeman. The pair formed the band K-38 in the early 80s as high school classmates in Santa Monica, CA. Named for the famous surf br...eak in Baja, K-38 crafted a surf-inspired psychedelic power rock sound with unabashed influence from various genres. The band made their mark on the Southern California music scene, sharing the stage with the likes of Taj Mahal and Hiram Bullock before DiStefano and Costigan each made their way into other music projects. Eric Avery, another high school classmate of the band, had gone on to play bass guitar with Jane's Addiction. When Jane's burned out, the ashes re-kindled, sparking the band Porno for Pyros. DiStefano ignited the music world writing the music for two of the band's Warner Bros backed records. He and his guitar have toured the world, including a stop on the stage of Woodstock II in 1994 for 300,000 fans.
On April 10, Music Villa will host Peter DiStefano for a free guitar clinic at *pm. Offering back up are Frank O'Connor of Livingston on bass, Bozeman's Dustin Tucker (vocals), and Bill Costigan on drums. At 10:00 pm, the band will take the stage of the Eagle's lower lounge for a set of K-38 and Porno songs, as well as classic 60s and 70s covers.
