I'm glad he did because it's something that we need to get fixed here.
I dunno if you own the Box Set but the version of Kettle Whistle on the Box is the same as the one he linked to:
http://janesaddiction.org/tour/tour_det ... ourID=1152
The Box lists it as:
"Recorded Live at VARIETY ARTS CENTER, Los Angeles, CA (7/10/87)"
Here are some details on the complete recording that were provided to me by a friend:

I have this whole show...as far as sound, I wouldn't give it an A+ The bootlegs versions yes, but not the tape recording version. Just my opinion.Handsome Mike wrote:scabdates mentioned this show in another thread:

I'd love to hear this full version if someone would be nice enough to upload it.

It's funny, because back in the day most of these tape boots were rated (A) when in fact they really sound like shit.

I pretty sure this was one of the topics that a certain someone deleted when he accused me of being a troll.
If I remember right somebody mentioned in that thread that this show was thought to be acoustic only.
I know the ticket and the poster that have been around forever make mention of it.
All I have of this recording is what's on the Abdication CD and the four songs on it aren't all acoustic.
Classic Girl
My Time
Kettle Whistle
Ted, Just Admit It...
I know Jane's did a lot of acoustic sets back in the day.
Maybe the acoustic mention on the poster and ticket was just to let the folks who where going know that they were going to get "some" of that particular goodness that evening?
Not that they were going to be playing "only" acoustic that night.
I only bring this up because I found a flyer last year by Robert Rafn that makes no mention of an acoustic performance.
And we currently list this show as "This show was played entirely acoustic."
I know it needs fixed but just wanted to bring it up to further the discussion and see what you guys think?

I have this, I remember when Cabinet came out I was telling Mike about it, saying our date was wrong I guess, and that I had the complete show, and Sorry Charles, I was the one labeling it A+, should be B+ but it is a soundboard from what I can tell, just from a cassette I have. I have been to several Lakers games and the Staples Center is just down the road from the Variety Arts Center, it has a sign that says Variety Arts Center, it also has a sign on the side that says Variety Arts Theatre as well as another sign that says Variety Arts Theater, so you do the spelling of what this place is called, theatre spelled two ways plus the main sign saying Center, I call it the Variety Arts Theatre @ the Variety Arts Center, never been inside myself, pretty big building and I have pics, just not sure where I put them, I'll look for them.

Tonight I finally got the shows info page updated.
In addition Erik updated the bootlegs that are associated with this show.
I'm still trying to figure out exactly how I'm going to incorporate the recording info though.

At any rate you can view this shows updated page here:

Re: 1987.07.10 Variety Arts Theatre, Los Angeles, CA
One quick question for any or you out there that can answer.
I know we recently had the portions of this show that are on the bootlegs attributed to the 12/31/1987 show.
I seem to remember however that at one point we thought what's on the bootlegs came from the 12/31/1986 show.
Is that correct?
