Hi humanoid, I'm not sure what your post has to do with this thread but I'd like to hear Jane's cover some Sabs!

I don't think Sweet Leaf would be my first choice though I've been known to partake from time to time. :hydro:

I think I'd like to hear what they could do with Evil Woman or maybe Fairies Wear Boots.

Lots of great tunes to choose from and if they covered any of them at a show it could be bad ass.

Can you imagine them doing Sabbath Bloody Sabbath?

Disregard the "I'm not sure what your post has to do with this thread" part please.

When I responded to your post it was part of another thread. :)

Yeah I didn't think about it but a cover of The Wizard would be pretty interesting.
My only thing is if Perry's going to blow on a harmonica I'd rather he be doing it while performing My Time.

My Time is one of a handful of songs I've never gotten to see the band do live and the truth is I'd rather they play it than cover anything by anybody.

My Time is one of the classics some very good songwriting there. I know Porno For Pyros used to cover it a lot but I haven't heard Jane's play it in years! Perry is a good harmonica player too.

those are some great songs you guys have mentioned and I'd love to hear My Time played live but i'm just not feeling the sabbath with Jane's,maybe to have had it done on the nativity in black would of been pretty bad ass but I just want to move on and hear something new!

butthole surfers do a great version of sweet leaf xcept its called sweat loaf ... red hot chili peppers dropped reference to said cover on one hot minute ... which of course had dave on guitar :) (ps dave please return to form on whores because u are a lazy ass chunking out the main riff that u used to destroy every nite in 87)

as for janes i agree that i would really rather hear them focus on janes songs .. i'd much rather hear my time, slow divers, city or trip away, 1 percent or even something new .. i'd like to hear them really mix up the setlists .. throw us a 1 2 punch of kettle into obvious for old times sake .. and i'd like to hear janes mix up how they play the songs more ... an acoustic been caught or aint no right would be good .. maybe throw in some pyro, spread or banyan songs done janes style ... i loved the flash mob version of mytime ... i think nua nua is chip away part 2 and i'd love to hear them pull out the drum circle on that song like they do with chip away

i will come out and say that pyros came much closer in production than janes did in what i see as the future janes sound that can succeed .. janes seems to discard the raw xxx sound for a very polished metal slab that i admit works at times (especially on songs like up the beach) but at this point they would do well with a more classic rock production

i hope dave sticks with the les paul cuz his other guitars sound like they came from kmart and move towards the production value of those early sabbath records .. raw organic psychadelic and heavy but not modern rock heavy. cuz janes trying to sound more like korn and limp bizkit is not working for me.

janes would sound great covering sabbath if they can find the right sound but the business has pushed this over saturated production value on everything that was good and musical and i am not under the impression that the guys in janes have the will power they once did to fight the system and force something truly beautiful and ugly in our face like they once did ..

I'm not a fan of the modern rock heavy, it veers into nonmusical territory and thats why rock & roll is dying or dead compared to what it was from the 60's all the way to the 90's. The modern (heavy) rock bands seem to appeal to strictly a very young audience whereas the great groups have a multi-generational appeal like the Floyd, Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Doors. They had more diversity and a broader base they worked with like blues, folk, classical, ect.
And you said the magic words "organic" and "psychedelic". My fav Jane's release is the self titled and it is far more classic rock than all the others.
