Neat idea, huh? Check it out..Colors of Earth and Plants is a fan-created Jane's Addiction album. The goal was to create "new" songs out of old recordings, with all sounds being from the members of Jane's Addiction: drums by Stephen Perkins, guitar by Dave Navarro, bass by Eric Avery, and vocals by Perry Farrell. No other sounds were used besides that (--well, Perry plays accordion on one song.. and I think Dave plays a couple seconds of keyboard). And most of the time, samples were kept close to "natural"-- that is to say, not drastically altered with audio software into just random noises.
Songs were pieced together using scraps from various sources (Jane's albums, studio outtakes, multi-tracks, live recordings, and more), looped and mixed together to resemble songs. Since I can't really create Perry singing (no autotune) and didn't want to make "remixes" of old songs by just using vocals from multitracks, the vocals are almost all spoken word, taken from poetry readings, interviews, or live on stage.
So yeah, don't take this too seriously or anything. Just enjoy it as one fan's attempt to give other fans the mythical follow-up to Ritual-- the never-to-be 4th Jane's Addiction album with Eric Avery.
