Ritual credit error

Post by intertwoven »

Can't believe I never noticed before, nor recall ever hearing this mentioned, but I'm pretty sure that there's a major typo in the credits to Ritual de lo Habitual..

Catch it?
John Phillip Shenale is credited with playing strings on Three Days, Charlie Bischarat is credited with playing electric and acoustic violin on Three Days and Of Course, Geoff Stradling performs piano on Three Days.
There are no strings, violin, or piano in "Three Days"! It's clear for all 3 mentions, they meant to say "Then She Did" (which has strings, violin, and piano, yet is not mentioned in the credits).

Maybe it's not a huge deal, but kinda just blew my mind when I noticed that.

It's possible they recorded it and just ditched them during mixing... but you could also be right

yeah if it wasn't for the Then She Did credits being nowhere to be found, then maybe. But no, I'm pretty sure somebody just messed up and typed in the wrong song. They both start with "Th" and have nearly the same number of letters.. both epic/long songs, and right next to each other in the tracklist. you can see how somebody unfamiliar with the songs could mix them up.

Well at least the "lo de" typo was fixed quick enough.. looks like the "Three Days"/"Then She Did" mix up is still present on all editions.
And I don't think the "Then She Did"/"Died" is a typo, but rather a conscious effort to make it obtuse.
"Then She Did..." is not the title the song was originally known as. At a drum clinic in 1998, Stephen shared a little known fact with the small crowd.. When it came time to put the song on Ritual, Perry decided to remove a letter from the original title to add some mystery to the song and keep some of the emotional significance to himself.

Where does it say that on Ritual?
I have at least a half dozen copies laying around and I'm missing it I guess.
I've heard of this before and still have the copy I bought the day it came out.

It's got to be on the first issue?

Great thread. :thumb:
