Three Days DVD - good or bad?

Post by Sojourner »

Sorry Mods, couldn't find the thread for it...

I've resisted it for quite a while, but seeing my interests for all things JA has resurfaced, it's finally on the way. It seems to get many negative reviews for the song cuts and general style the directors took. Now of course I want to read how .org felt about it :flea:

It is one of my favorite music dvds and I've seen it dozens of times and it is a great watch.

It isn't the most balanced or well executed rockumentary but it is pure entertainment and drips of sex.

I've not watched it in a while but spunkmuffin hit the nail on the head when he said "always leave them wanting more".

It's definitely worth having and like any Jane's I have I ain't giving it back.
It's just that you'll be watching a clip and then all the sudden, bam it gets cut.

It'll probably never happen but a re-cut of this movie to make it all performance footage would be awesome.
They could cobble together a complete concert with all the footage they have quite easily.

I bought it and only watched it once.

I never understood why they cut all the songs half way. It's like when my girlfriend turns off the radio just when there's a great guitar solo coming on.

I remember I saw a special screening in NYC where the directors were there..I was blown away seeing it on the big screen, and I was shocked that no one died on that tour!..But then I got the video and it lost all its steam..It has its moments but it feels kind of 1/2 empty.

Cool. So I'm getting the vibe essential for the hardcore fan otherwise approach with caution. One day they may just release the cut footage on some DVD bonus material...next request on Dark Matter perhaps? :)

Frankly, I love it. The best is when you play it for someone who is a fan of the genre but has never seen, or even heard of, the band before. They are usually blown away by the rawness of the live takes.

I've been meaning to buy the UK DVD of this for some time purely for the reason that it is an anamorphic transfer and I can watch it full screen on my TV better
