Mr. Navarro's Neighborhood

Post by Mike »

This is some of the coolest shit I've ever seen Dave do outside of playing guitar.
They're a year or so old but it never gets old watching them.
Dave & Todd take a cruise through Dave's neighborhood to talk to some of the people on the street. Directed by Todd Newman.

There was a link That I saw about the time cabinet of courisities came out that showed location around California where the guys lived, went to school, and where the first clubs they performed. It used something like map quest to show the spots around town. Does anyone know where this link is? I wish I remembered to find this before I went to Bardot to check their stomping grounds. After rehearsals that day they all took off for a hour in their cars and I thought it would be funny if they lived just around the corner sense this was in Venice.

I know what you're talking about drifter and I'm trying to find it.
It's here on the board somewhere and I'll post it for you once I find it.

I had to dig through a couple hundred emails but here's a link to the map you're looking for. :)

This is super cool!! Would be killer if we could complete this...I would make a trip out to LA this summer and go to all these spots take photos and play the boot that matched the venue. Might even puff a J...

A true JA sickness.

We are all afflicted with this JA sickness it seems
“With a bracing combination of metal, punk, and psychedelica, coupled with lead singer Perry Farrell's banshee-in-a-wind tunnel vocals”...

I thought it was cool and thought about adding to it or making one.
I've also talked to Erik about adding addresses for venues in the Tour Dates section.

Last month when we were out in L.A. we didn't have much time for site seeing.
We did go looking around for Charley's Obsession and that was fun and a little scary all in one.

But I definitely think there are like minded fans who'd like to visit some of the guys old haunts.
In my work in the Chip Away section I often google addresses and just as often I'm surprised by the results.
I can't remember the name of the venue but Psi-Com played in a place that is now a Beauty Parlor.

I know I'm anal about this stuff but did anyone else notice the two mistakes on that map?

yeah - there is already a spot for addresses in the database as I was using it for generating mapquest links for upcoming shows. unfortunately I'm pretty sure I cleared it a few months back :headbang:

I might still have an old update w/ that info that i can salvage :noclue:

I'll have to throw on my geek cap and figure better ways of playing around w/ something like this, as it would be better to not have to retype the venue's address each time a band plays there (think of the times Hellride or Banyan have played DiPiazza's)

it could also be interesting to have that info on what the venue is now, or what happened to it (just read something about Wolfgangs in SF burning down 6mo after Jane's played there in 87) but that's also beyond the main scope of this site.

anyway, its in my mind of things to play with :thumb:
