I was wondering what Morgan Fichter was up to these days (the "5th member" of Jane's back in 90/91, playing violin live on "then she did" and "of course", sometimes also joining in on percussion on "chip away") and found out sometimes she plays in an old-timer band in Berkeley, CA called Friends of Old Puppy.
Here's a recent video..

Thanks for posting that intertwoven.
It doesn't really remind me of the Old Time music I've been exposed to but it's cool none the less.

Re: Morgan Fichter
well by "old-timer band" I just meant as opposed to a band trying to get signed, make money, etc.. it's a group of "mature" folks just getting together to play a cafe every saturday for fun.Handsome Mike wrote:It doesn't really remind me of the Old Time music I've been exposed to but it's cool none the less.
I miss Perry + strings. I really wish today's JA would go more towards an "Of Course"/"Pete's Dad" direction. I think "aging gracefully" like the lovely Ms. Fichter definitely has something to be said for it.

I saw her join in on Up The Beach at the beginning of a JA concert. It was wonderful. She had the same smile she sports in the video above.

Re: Morgan Fichter
I can't think of a show where I've heard anything that resembles violin on Up The Beach on any recording I have.
Not saying it's not possible but I have a lot of recordings from Morgan's time in the band and she's not playing on Up The Beach on any of them.
Like intertwoven I'd like to know which show you saw this happen at?

Unfortunately there are precious few that I'm aware of.humanoid wrote:are there any pictures of her on the site during the jane's days....?

There's one good one I found on flickr a while back of her with Perry.
