I think it's a pretty big deal that Perry was given that honor and I'm really happy he got to do it.
Even though it came out of left field (pun intended) I'm really not surprised they got him to do it.
Lollapalooza is going to pump millions upon millions of dollars into the Chicago economy over the next few days.
Why not do something nice for the man whose at least in part responsible for that windfall.

That is awesome. Very deserved. Chicago really does prosper for those 3 days. I made the trip from NY in 09 to see the EA, real version of Jane's. Perry made a big deal about Chicago getting the 2016 Olympics and how it would benefit the city. He had nothing to gain by mentioning it during the Jane's show. It seemed like he really cared. Good for him and Chicago throwing out that first pitch.
