when I think of Chris the first word that comes to mind is Humble!

We don't know who played what basslines on what songs, or what parts of songs. Maybe Chaney didn't play on this track. I dunno. I could accept that. Nevertheless, I think he deserves some respect, as he's worked so much with these guys, and has basically saved their ass, yet again. So, humble is definitely a word that comes to mind. He seems like a mellow, grounded guy. Obviously he gets paid for this, but he also deserves more credit than a mere hired gun. His playing at the Vibes show, for instance, was pretty impeccable, and imo he had the closest-to-EA sound that any JA bassist has had.

Chaney remains somewhat mysterious because we don't know what his input has been into the two JA albums he's worked on. I think people connect him with the fact that Strays was a mainstream rock album, an that some of the shows of that era were lackluster, but I don't think that's fair.

This video is nothing to write home about. It could be (and has been) worse.

:headscratch: have you listened to what Martyn tried to do? He got fired for trying to sound the closest to EA.

The impression I've gotten was that Chaney isn't on the new album, or if he is, isn't on much of it. He is absolutely a talented bassist, there is no denying that. The guy has serious skills, and he is definitely very humble about it. So he definitely deserves respect for that.

I just thought it was interesting that he wasn't in either music video. Not judging, just an observation.

Seems to me that it was more that Martyn was agitating for the art-rock sound in general, and he ended up butting heads with Ezrin over that. I don't think it had anything to do with the bass-playing sounding like EA, but more to do with the form and style of the songs, and keeping those interesting extra parts and such. Consider that they kick off Strays with a faux EA bassline, and that's the thing that they had playing over and over on the official website.

That's another very weak video for this "new era" of Jane's.

Chaney does play on the new record, as he can be seen in whichever in studio clip that was posted a month or two ago.

Credits on the record will be a song by song basis for bass, as Dave, Sitek, and Chaney all recorded bass tracks.

I've watched this about two dozen times now and i feel like it fits the song fairly well.
It does sort of remind me of the Satellite Party video for Wish upon A Dog Star for some reason though. :noclue:

It's weird I guess but Perry seems to fall back into the space type thing for this one in the video.
I shouldn't really be surprised though seeing as this has been a reoccurring theme for many many a year now.

I give it a B- but bare in mind I really could give a shit when it comes to videos.
I'd much rather let my mind wander while listening to tunes and conjure up my own images for what I'm hearing.
With that in mind this is about what i expected and I like it.

The vid is very trippy. I dig the intro a lot with the spoken word and how the vocals build up over the groove. This is probably the best thing they done since Ritual De Lo, me thinks. Perry looks and sounds great.

Best track on the album I'm convinced. Too bad the other tracks fall short.
