martyn L.

Post by k7d2t »

dunno if it's been mentioned/asked, but has j.a. ever tried martyn l. from p4p on bass ? they are such an abstract that just plain solid bass don't do the trick. I believe that every bassist that's stepped in has done a good job playing good plain solid bass. but knowing that avery can't be replaced, why not try someone such as martyn that was "out there" and abstract with his basslines and playing?

Martyn was actually in JA from 2001-2002 and was in the band when they began writing and recording Strays. He was ultimately fired because essentially his playing, and desire to stay "true" to the old Jane's sound, wasn't what producer Bob Ezrin had in mind for the band and album. While Martyn was very unhappy in how he was fired, fences were at least somewhat mended by 2009 as Martyn showed up and performed a couple of P4P songs w/ Peter DiStefano, Steve and Perry during Perry's 51st b-day celebration.
