Black Box Revelation

Post by helicine »

Posting this here since they're the band's openers right now.

I'd never heard of them before the show. A guy we were in line with in Detroit had heard a bit of them and described them as a cross between The Black Keys and The White Stripes. The duo thing matches, but sound/music wise it works too.

There have not been a lot of opening acts I have enjoyed over the years, but these guys put on a pretty good show. I picked up their EP in Columbus since it was only $5, so we'll see how their stuff translates to disc.

Anyway, if you are going to the shows, I recommend getting their early enough to check these guys out.

Oh yeah, and if you are in the door early, you might catch Perk and a few other guys doing their drum circle thing in the venue's lobby

My friend Bob saw them a while back and told me they were good and that I'd like them.

He was right.

I'm not sure they remind me of anyone in particular but I would definitely recommend anyone going to see Jane's getting there early enough to see them.

It was nice to see the crowd at both shows getting into them.
I remember some openers getting pelted with shit and being booed of the stage but these guys got a well deserved response from everyone it seemed.

I thought it was really cool of them to be out at their merchandise booth chatting with fans about their music and posing for photos after the show too.

Listened to their EP, and I think they're better live. The last two tracks, Love Licks & Sealed With Thorns, were the stand outs for me.

I wish I'd of listened to the EP at your place before I headed home Sunday.
The thought never crossed my mind though.
