Ritual 2x LP promo

Does anyone know the release date of the 2X LP Ritual promo? I found it fascinating that Warner Brothers would make a double album promo for a record that was originally released on a single disc. As far as I can tell the first 2x LP version of this didn't come out until 2009 RSD. Was the double LP vinyl promo released in 1990?

I don't believe the 2x vinyl was released in 1990. Pretty sure the double vinyl re-release was for better sound quality.

The promo was released for the Relapse tour, 1997.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm still confused why a record label would spend all that money on making new version of "Ritual" just because the band was going on tour? Was there a new version available for the public also in 1997 or did Warner Brothers just make a higher quality piece of vinyl in hopes record stations would spin "Stop" or "Been Caught Stealing"? 1997 was a VERY low point for vinyl, period. I would think any airplay at that time would have been done on CD?

My thoughts: it was a limited promo release that was pressed up because Jane's had a DJ opening the relapse shows (forget her name right now). It was not commercially available, but for DJ use. Good God's Urge was also released as a promo at the same time for the same reason.

Ah yes, DJ Pollywog doing the between-bands music, with Goldie opening. I think the releases were a pet project from Troy their A&R guy who was big into vinyl.

Does anyone have any info on how many of these 2x LP "Ritual" promos were pressed?

I don't know, but my guess is that the run was extremely small. They have never been easy to come across, even right when they were first pressed up.
